The Cathedral Basilica of Santa Marta is also known as the Whitewashed Cathedral and is the oldest cathedral in Santa Marta and one of the oldest in the country. It was completed in the late 18th century, around 1765 to 1794, and is considered the first basilica built in South America. It features Roman Renaissance style with Baroque details and an elegant neoclassical facade with white stucco, columns, and stained glass windows.
