A Stunning Urban Retreat for All Seasons

Letná Park is a breathtaking urban escape in Prague, offering endless opportunities for relaxation, exercise, and soaking in the city’s charm. Perched above the Vltava River, the park boasts stunning panoramic views of Prague’s Old Town, the shimmering river, and its iconic bridges—perfect for photos or simply taking in the scenery. The view from spots like the Metronome or Hanavský Pavilion is unforgettable. As a runner, I find Letná’s wide, well-maintained asphalt pathways ideal for a smooth jog, winding beautifully across the expansive lawns. These paths crisscross the park, making it a haven for runners, cyclists, inline skaters, and walkers. The park’s flat Letná Plain is especially great for easy navigation, but the real magic lies in the smaller, meticulously maintained pathways that dip into the river valley. Walking these quieter trails, especially in autumn when the leaves turn vibrant shades of orange and red, feels like stepping into a painting. The crisp air and colorful foliage create a heartwarming, almost magical experience that’s hard to beat. Letná is perfect for everyone—families with kids, dog owners, and even those practicing yoga or martial arts in the open spaces. I’ve seen people of all ages here, from energetic kids at the playground to seniors strolling or jogging, which keeps me motivated during my runs. The park feels safe and welcoming, with plenty of space for dogs to roam freely. A recently added lake cools the area and adds to the scenic beauty, complementing the centuries-old trees, flowering shrubs, and vibrant flowerbeds that make spring and summer visits spectacular. Summer brings extra life with the Letná Beer Garden, a shaded spot under chestnut trees serving refreshing Czech beers and snacks like fries or halloumi sticks (bring cash!). The beer garden’s laid-back vibe and river views are unbeatable. Events like the Letní Letná festival, with circus acts, theater, and music, add a festive touch. Sports lovers will appreciate the football and tennis areas, swing chairs, jumping springs, and open exercise corners scattered throughout. For those exploring further, Letná connects to Chotkovy Sady via a charming arched wooden bridge, offering a scenic route toward Prague Castle. This connection makes it easy to extend your visit into another beautiful green space, enhancing the park’s appeal for longer outings. The park’s proper waste management keeps it clean despite the crowds, and accessibility is decent with multiple entry points (e.g., Čechův Bridge or trams to Letenské náměstí), though some valley paths involve steps, so plan ahead for strollers or mobility needs. Letná Park is a year-round treasure, but autumn on those valley pathways is pure bliss. Whether you’re running, walking, cycling, or just enjoying the views with a beer, Letná delivers an unforgettable experience....

If you're wondering what's at the top of that big hill in Prague, it's Letna Park. I wasn't sure what to expect the first time I wandered to the top but was pleasantly surprised to find a lovely and quite large section of natural park to enjoy. The views from up top are unbeatable and the park really opens up. It's bigger than I had anticipated and I followed it round to the summer palace before inevitably walking through the actual palace grounds (which cover a LOT of ground). Letna seems to be the spot a lot of locals will go to, skateboarders and dog walkers, and to my surprise was fairly empty. From the far side of the palace from Letna park you can actually make your way to the second peak/hill which ultimately gives the entire area above Prague a continuous feel of nature. I crossed the bridge at what felt like the foot of the palace and Letna park during the day time and found myself walking down the (awkward) paths of the hills on the far side of the palace during twilight. I walked all day and had a wonderful time surrounded by peace. There is even a pond up there which is currently frozen over and people were ice skating on it. Truly blissful. Just be aware that in some places, it can be extremely awkward returning back down the hill but it's all...

One of the most beautiful parks in Prague. It is large, beautiful with restaurants, games for children everywhere and for all ages, bike paths, basketball courts or tennis courts, a wild skate park, bars, mobile refreshments or restaurants, a big (and very good) ice cream shop and especially a lot of squirrels. Very much. There are several connections to enter or leave this park that overlooks the city offering in some places an incredible panorama with the view of the whole of Prague. It is so big that it has a lot of quiet places and in the summer it also has lots of lively places. This location is essential for fireworks or even winter for December 31. There will always be a big event to take care of alone or with your family (letní Letná, Ohana Cirkus, concerts, etc.). Even the football stadium is there. In short, it is impossible to be bored or starve. And take off your sunglasses because there will be plenty to see. It is the ideal place for Czechs and tourists. I go there every morning to run. 😊
