I visited this place for the first time and had booked a table in advance. The interior is pleasant and aesthetic, but it turned out to be quite cold indoors in the current season. I was very chilly, and unfortunately, the blanket didn’t help – there was a draft due to the constantly opening door, which was felt not only on my back but also on my legs. Our table didn’t have any decor, while other tables had dried flowers and lamps, which gave a slightly inconsistent impression. Additionally, the table wobbled, making it difficult to cut the steak.
The place is quite noisy: the conversations of other patrons drown out the music, making it challenging to communicate even at your own table. This also complicates communication with the staff – I had to repeat my order several times.
The staff was generally friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. However, the food didn’t impress me much. The tartare was a bit bland, and I wanted to add some salt, but there was neither salt nor pepper on the table. The grilled vegetables were slightly al dente and only lightly charred – personally, I would have preferred them a bit more cooked. The meat was fine, with the doneness as requested.
I was also put off by the bread ordered with the tartare – it was slightly stale, as if it had been sliced a long time ago and improperly stored. Unfortunately, after all this, I didn’t feel like...
Read moreBig prices compared to food quantities, considering you're in Czech Republik, one of the cheapest European Countries. They pre-cut your steak so that way it looks bigger on the plate. Steak doesn't include any side or any sauce. You've to order them separately. Despite the location is nice, the food is good, the sides choice is good too, but the quantities are small (photos attached). I spent €58 for a 300g Ribeye (that wasn't 300g) and 3 little slices of roasted sweet potatoes + 1 beer + 1 water.
When it was the time to pay, I've basically been forced to leave a tip, and I refused it. I don't see the reason why I should leave a tip for a service that was not better than any service that you can get anywhere else in Europe. I travel the world because of my job and I never being asked to leave tips in restaurants, anywhere in Europe.
I leave tips in USA and in UK since I know that workers they survive thanks to this, since their wages are very low compared to wages in Europe, so I don't like this attempt of "milking tourist's money as much as possible" behavior they have in Prague and in this restaurant. I heard around that this "tradition" is pretty common in the whole city. Well in my opinion it's a stupid no-sense tradition supposedly based on the quality of the service, which is exactly the same service you get anywhere else in Europe without...
Read moreWe started with tartar on bone narrow which was really good but it was missing something to accompany it. Chips on the plate was decorative, kinda useless for me. For the main course we got flank steak and fillet mignon. I am not a fan of flat steak but it was as good as it can be. Fillet mignon on the other hand was kinda disappointing, because meat was dry, partially overcooked. Side dishes are a bit small but they are decent. We had fries in truffle oil and grilled vegetables. For the grilled vegetables, there should be some spices as a flavor enchanter in my opinion, it was a bit flat. For desserts we got cheese cake and chocolate fondue. Chocolate fondue was average but the cheese cake was amazing. Maybe one of the best I ate. Overall I think it's a good restaurant but it's a bit overpriced for the portion you got. Especially antricote shouldn't be that expensive considering it has pretty much the same cost with other options. Its a nice restaurant, trying to be an upscale place but the music was also not matching with the general overall atmosphere. But go and give it a try, it will become better in...
