Vodárenská věž Letná — Attraction in Prague

Letenská vodárna - 26 metrů vysoká pětipodlažní vodárenská stavba postavená v novorenesančním slohu - je další z nádherných dominant sedmé městské části. Stavba pochází z roku 1887 až 1888 a byla vybudována podle návrhu architekta Jindřicha Fialky. Věž s přilehlou vodárnou na Letné původně zásobovala vodou část Holešovic a Bubenče. Svému účelu přestala sloužit již v roce 1913 a posléze byla přestavěna na bytový objekt. Od roku 1992 je památkově chráněna. Rekonstrukce vodárenské věže začala v listopadu roku 2016 a městská část ji dokončila v červnu 2018. V nejvyšším místě věže, ve kterém se původně nacházela hlavní vodní nádrž, vznikl společenský sál s výsuvnou podlahou a výstavním systémem se světly. Je odsud také přístupný ochoz věže a pozorovací kabina s originálním periskopem pro pozorování okolí. V úrovni pod sálem, v bytě "prvního topiče" parního stroje, je zřízena knihovna s čítárnou. Ve zbývajících úrovních věže jsou navrženy prostory kluboven.

Letenská water tower - a 26-meter high five-storey waterworks built in the Neo-Renaissance style - is another of the magnificent dominant of the seventh part of our capital. The building dates from 1887 to 1888 and was built according to the design of the architect Jindřich Fialka. The tower with an adjacent waterworks at Letná originally supplied part of Holesovice and Bubeneč with water. It ceased it´s purpose in 1913 and was later rebuilt into a residential building. It has been a subject of historic preservation since 1992. The reconstruction of the water tower started in November 2016 and the city completed it in June 2018. At the highest point of the tower, where the main water reservoir was originally located, there is a social hall with a sliding floor and an exhibition system with lights installed. There is also a viewing gallery and an observation cabin with an original periscope for observing the surroundings.
