A weekend in Copenhagen 🇩🇰 🏠 Visit the iconic Nyhavn to see its colorful and picturesque facades. 🎠 Spend a morning or afternoon in the Tivoli Gardens, a beautiful amusement park founded in 1843. 🚶🏽♂️ Get lost in the pretty streets of the city (Magstræde in the video). ⛪️ Visit Rundetårn, the iconic round tower, to have an amazing view of the city. 🚲 Try some Danish dishes, like the famous smørrebrød. I tried plankebøf at Karla Restaurant and stjerneskud at Restaurant 1733, both incredibly delicious. 🧡 There are many aesthetic cafes and charming bakeries. My favorites were Rug Bakery, Original Coffee and La Cabra. ⛪️ Visit the stunning Frederik's Church and have a walk around Amalienborg and Amaliehaven. 🌳 Have a nice walk around or visit the Rosenborg Castle and the King's Garden. 📚 Visit the Royal Danish Library (also known as the Black Diamond because of its facade of polish black granite). It has an amazing view of the canal. 🏠 More of Copenhagen in my highlights ✨ #citiesoftheworld #europedestinations #livingeurope #prettylittletrips #lebeauvoyage #departuresmag #mycityloves #wonderfuldestinations #living_destinations #theprettycities #prettyplaces #mydomainetravels #gglocalgems #pathport #culturetrip #mytinyatlas #allthealleys #tlpicks #chasingfacades #iamatraveler #iwalkedthisstreet #bitsofbuildings #straightfacades #københavn #copenhagen locations guide itinerary plans what to do
Every time I step inside the Black Diamond, I immediately feel a sense of calmness and tranquility. It almost makes me feel like going back to studying 😅 This is more than a library though: it's a masterpiece of architectural design, it hosts a few exhibits in the lower floor, small shop, and a bar area with food and drinks. The reading rooms (both in the "old" and "new" library) offer quite a lot of seats. What is also worth checking out is the view from the 6th floor and the garden in the backyard. Besides its main purpose as a library, I would also point this out as a cool spot to visit in Copenhagen. When weather is nice, it also offers nice views by the canal.
If you are looking for a place to study, this can make the top. It has nice facilities where you can learn: open study areas, where people gather in study groups and it is acceptable for you to talk in your normal pitch tone, and there are study/readind areas where people just sit at a desk and study and talking is nor permitted as it is highly disturbing (it is ok to whisper though). It has a great view at the canal, even if you want to sit down at the cafeteria or upstairs in one of the study/reading rooms. The coffee there is not quite cheap in case you would fancy one, but it is cheaper than places like Starbucks.
The most friendliest people I found from my short trip to CPH were from this place. The lady at the reception gave the brightest smile and clear explanation on how to get to the exhibition downstairs. Went in Nov23, there were 2 exhibitions, photography and games. I was the only one there, got a bit creepy when I was trying to zoom in on the photos of the deceased on display when suddenly it went blackout for like a second or two! Tried to make my visit there a brief then 😅. On to the gaming exhibition, I enjoyed playing Subway Surfers on their big screen! The ticket was included in Copenhagen Card.
I'm happy for the people who live in Copenhagen. They have such an extraordinary facility nearby. It's a brilliantly designed building, architecture wise. Inside gave me the calm and clear feeling to focus. The interior is well thought and beautiful in each corner, chairs, lights, tables. There's the old pharmacy cupboards with old books directory, impressively kept in good condition. The lowest floor has a café with the water view. Bread there was good as well. I'd recommend to drop by even just to see around. But be careful not to disturb people 😊
