A Taste of the Extraordinary -
There are meals you forget by morning, and then there are those that quietly reshape your idea of what food can be. Dining at this restaurant was not simply eating — it was discovering. A quiet revelation in a series of small, exquisite plates.
The portions were modest, even minimal. But what would be gluttony elsewhere felt here like poetry: a single bite, layered with such depth and precision, held the weight of an entire dish. By the end of the fifth-course journey, I was both full and in awe — not from volume, but from flavor.
Each plate arrived with a story, told not only through its presentation but through the voice of the staff, who spoke of ingredients with reverence. I left feeling I knew more about what I had eaten than I ever expected — and perhaps more than I know about my own pantry.
The chefs? Alchemists. Wizards. Or, to be fair, masters of their craft. They delivered food that bordered on the surreal — not because it was strange, but because it was sublime. A kind of food that makes you question whether you’ve truly tasted before.
Yet, amid this wonder, a quiet discomfort lingered. The cost of one menu could feed a family for a week. For us, this was an occasion, an investment in experience. And while worth every cent, it came with a twinge of envy — knowing for some, such evenings are mere routine.
The setting itself is understated, almost plain — but perhaps by design. Here, there are no distractions from what truly matters. The service was impeccable, and, mercifully, the gratuity already included — a rare relief in a world of tipping games.
Would I return? Absolutely — should fortune allow. Some tastes are worth saving for. Some moments, however brief, remind us that life holds marvels....
Read moreChilly rain descends rapidly with thunder and wind. A short walk becomes a soaking. Finally discovering the entrance I am welcomed. But alas, as I hang my dripping coat and surprise the host with my cold hands I am asked which party I am part of. No reservation? Tonight is a large group booking of the restaurant, there is no room even at the bar. My disappointment (and hers) is palpable. Terribly sorry. I whip out the phone to find another place and she returns - spoke to the manager, I can sit at the end of the bar. Can't send me back out into the sudden cold.
From this a delicious Nordic contemporary meal ensued, warmed further by the true sense of hospitality.
Made a special order of gluten-free herbed crumpets for me when they learned of my restriction.
Delicious monkfish with a Gordello white from Spain. Rusty nails dessert--the ingenious pairing of cocoa with licorice coating salted caramel.
The crowd of bankers that filed in for the private party changed the sound atmosphere (characterized by spacious melancholy instrumental music) but not the...
Read moreWe had our best meal in several days in CPH at No. 2. Great location by the water, relaxed atmosphere. very friendly, clearly well managed . We had both the veggi and regular 4 course dinner option (500 DKK each), and found them actually really good value, especially considering what restaurants normally cost in that city. The first course in the regular menu, smoked salmon with celeriac remoulade and pickled apples, was a bit on the bland, but still a good start. The following Sauté of mushrooms was great. Nice textures, flavorful. The miso glazed chicken thigh with carrots in apple vinegar was nicely presented and well executed, though of course chicken limits a bit what a dish can do. Still quite nice. The Blood orange marzipan cake with bergamot and cardamom ice cream rounded things off nicely. On top of that really excellent bread (ok, it's Denmark after al), and some nice drinks, including cocktails. Would...
