Read moreIt is good, so yeah go! especially if you’re someone who have not been to the Egyptian museum in Tahrir Cairo (or even if you have, i wanted to see it anyway) ticket is 80 for Egyptians. I can describe it as a nice summary museum with bits and pieces from across the Egyptian history (too summarized though), lovely artifacts overall.
However, the lighting inside is not optimum They say they have cafeteria but nothing there, the Roman theater and multimedia room is not working but they exist (the room looks poor with small display screen and a few wooden benches). I did not check the wifi and their kids area looks too modest to say the least Did not check the wifi or the washrooms. I did not find the audio guide and to have a guide explaining the museum to you i believe you need to arrange that beforehand. Some of the pieces dont have any descriptions!
Different variety of stores in the entrance and i believe with good offerings but I am Egyptian so was not looking for souvenirs.
A lot of the previous comments talked about cold air coniditioning but was not the case when i visited, no need for extra layer it was perfectly sunny and 27 celsius outside and the AC inside was not that cold.
Lastly, i knew the museum is the first of three phases to be completed later on for the bigger area around it, so looking forward to see when...
Read moreThe Museum is relatively new and seems a little unfinished with a kind of half empty warehouse feel. You also have to walk through an abandoned half finished shopping mall to get to the Museum which is a little bizarre. It feels like they had grand plans when building but didn't see them through. Its a pity as the building has huge potential and from the half built mall i saw it could be amazing. The price is v cheap, although bemusing that 'foreigners' pay 200 to visit and Egyptians and other 'Arabs' only 80 pounds . As a European married to an Egyptian I was miffed at having to pay more than him for the same experience and laughed to myself at the outcome in my country if it was advertised that 'foreigners' had to pay more!! However once I got into the exhibition I was pleasantly surprised, they have really wonderful exhibits with lovely informative descriptions and hopefully will build on that and make it rival all the bigger museums in time. Definitely well worth a visit and honestly they should charge more overall to visitors as they have some really...
