I just came back from vacation spent in this hotel and I feel very sorry for people who believe this is a five star hotel service. All I can say is that it was generally a very disappointing experience and I am very surprised with how many positive reviews there are here. This is advertised as a five star hotel but please be assured it absolutely is not. Why? I will try to put all positive and negative feedback bellow together with a lot of evidence in videos and photos: NEGATIVE feedback with videos and photos bellow: Upon our arrival we got a room which was extremely dirty. Sand and dirt from the beach and the renovation of the room that took place AGES ago is everywhere. Cleaners clean just the central part of the room, not under furniture, chairs... Phone in the room was not cleaned for years. Hairs from who knows who are everywhere you look around, dirty, dust... ANTS are all over the room, especially in the bathroom, and management is fully aware of that but they simply don't care. They left them to go freely all over bed sheets, towels, cosmetics... Cleaning boys often don't refill shower gel, coffee, tea spoons, or even towels. They absolutely don't have any plans or standards of what needs to be done when they enter a room. They just look around to see if you left them a tip or not! And the job they came to do comes second. I had to leave notes about refills, water, towels, etc... Balcony was probably never-ever mopped or cleaned in any way. Pharmacy in the hotel should be avoided at all costs. They are thieves and manipulators who will charge you 4x more for medicine than normal and hotel management denies any responsibility for them. They basically just take money from the pharmacy owner to rent the pharmacy area inside the hotel and don't care about their guests being robbed by them. I personally had a chance to experience this one unfortunately. FOOD quality is absolutely below average! From previous reviews, I expected to have a small variety of food in the hotel, but to have such low quality in a "five star" hotel is unbelievable. Literally, for breakfast you have 3 type of lowest quality salami, 3 types of cheese (which are often with crusts of air exposure but not so bad in taste), two sausages which are supposed to be grilled but they are actually cooked and so on... absolutely low standards for even 3 star hotels. Pastries are an even bigger disappointment. There are no fruit cakes, pudding is rare to see, but there are 10 sorts of layer (sponge) cakes in all rainbow colors! A lot of artificial colors with the lowest quality ingredients. Can you imagine getting regular bread soaked in milk with sugar served as a dessert in a five star hotel? Well, I also couldn't, but that is what you will get in this hotel (video available below). cocktails and juices they serve under AI (All-Inclusive) service are made of cheapest local brands and even made out of juices from juice machines, absolutely disgusting. Only the bar in the main lobby serves decent drinks and that is it. Bars on the beach and the pool are to be avoided in any possible way. Low hygiene is possibly the reason why both of us got stomach problems for the first time in our lives in Egypt. And this is my third visit, plus I lived in the Middle East for two years. first what will welcome you when you arrive at the hotel is a rotation door which is so dirty that you should ask for gloves to touch it. maybe the worst of everything listed above is the fact that the General Manager is fully aware of all of these issues, but he seems to not be too worried about them. I spoke with him in person and that was absolutely my biggest impression. Even other guests who came there for several years noticed the quality of service dipping year to year. EDIT 24/9/25: reply to hotel comment: you don’t need new operating procedures, you...

This was, since a long time, the worst experience I had with a hotel. I know quite a lot of hotels in Hurghada as I do vacation here quite often. And I know that what you see in pictures while booking is usually not the standard you get. I.e. don’t come with too high expectations. But this Hotel is from a price-performance ratio very disappointing. And from my point of view I can say: please do not book here. But if you book a room, start from Premium Rooms.
My Husband is Egyptian. We live in Germany and have been in Egypt to visit his familiy. We booked 4 rooms in SwissInn to spend some days on vacation together with the familiy. On average we paid 110 Euro per night per room. This price is probably ok for all inclusive if you get a well-maintained room and good food. But our stay it is in no way acceptable.
My husband did the check-in because he speaks the local language. And this might be the reason why they put us into the „Egyptian“ part of the hotel. And in this part, we did get the worst room. Small, dirty, badly maintained and some furniture broken. We did complain and the hotel management basically said: „well, you did book standard rooms. Not premium rooms. Premium rooms here are renovated, standard rooms are not renovated.“ Excuse me? How should I know from my booking in Booking.com that Standard = not renovated? For 110 Euro per night? If I knew in advance, i would have gone to a different hotel.
besides the bad quality of the rooms, the food was a Desaster as well. Low quality, made for masses of people, not thoroughly cooked (e.g. fish was rare), fruit gets mouldy, to drink you can have water or sugar juices. If you like, you can book a dinner in the two restaurants here. But to be honest: the food there would be better if they do not offer food at all. This was the worst experience I ever had. Just as a comparison: I have been before in Alexandria for one week. And i did not have any stomach problems. here, I am fighting against diarrhoea since day two.
Here is a summary and please also find some pictures attached:
Positive: Nice outdoor facilities Nice pool Beautiful beach
Negative: Our first room was very small Furniture is broken, long in the tooth, dirty Bath is moody and dirty In our „fresh“ bed was a used handkerchief Everywhere hair and sand Balkon was totally sandy, also the Balkon furniture. Balkon furniture was also broken. In front of our hotel part is the Pool were they have disco in the afternoon and in the evening. Unfortunately, it is very loud and the bass is very heavy. My two-year old son was not able to sleep properly. No wifi-connection in the rooms Food of low quality, fighting against diarrhoea since day two No WiFi-Connection in rooms if you want your children to get ear problems, bring them to mini disco Unfriendly staff. My husband has worked in tourism here for 10 years and he was very disappointed from the staff. No hello, no goodbye, no „you are welcome“ after our thank you (and we speak Arabic with th No Corona protection measures, 98% of people here do not wear a mask indoors , e.g. in the Restaurant at the buffet and they do not keep any distance.
Totally disappointing experience. I feel deceived. And I will happily book a different hotel during my next stay in Hurghada.
Comment to guest relations: thanks for your reply. But what will be the benefit of contacting guest relations? Nothing will change. And yes, we took the offered bigger room in the same building. It was a bit cleaner and the furniture was a bit better. But: there is no comment on booking.com that „standard room = not renovated“ and „premium room = renovated room“. I guess, the pictures show what is offered for a 110 Euro booking, standard room price. There is no second chance for a...
Read moreOur overall experience was very positive. The general manager and most of the staff were exceptionally polite, friendly, and professional, which made our stay very pleasant. The rooms were beautiful, clean, and comfortable — we received lovely rooms that were cleaned thoroughly every single day.
The hotel has seven restaurants, and the food was generally tasty. Our best experience was definitely in the seafood restaurant — amazing flavors and excellent service. On the other hand, the Italian restaurant left the weakest impression, with slow service and average food. Breakfast was okay, but it lacked variety — it was more or less the same every day. Still, this didn’t significantly affect our overall impression.
However, what truly disappointed us was the experience at reception on our last day. We had two rooms — one of them we extended and paid for until the next day, because our flight was late at night. The other room we checked out of exactly at noon, as required.
At that moment, my sister had already moved to the room we had paid to keep, and she was putting her baby to sleep. The baby had been sick for three days, diagnosed with an air allergy, had a fever and had received two injections. I went to reception to return the card and remove the wristband, which they did. However, they insisted that my sister also come immediately to remove her wristband — even though I politely asked if she could come in 30 minutes, just to let the baby fall asleep.
Despite explaining the situation calmly and clearly — that she was in our paid room, and was just trying to soothe her sick baby for a little while — the front desk manager was extremely rude and started raising his voice. He said she could stay only if we paid €25 for those 30 minutes, even though she wasn’t in the checked-out room at all. They refused to wait, so I had no choice but to go back and wake up both my sister and her ill baby just to bring her to the front desk. It was completely unnecessary, heartless, and unacceptable.
To make matters worse, although we were clearly told that guests who check out still have access to lunch and the beach until departure, they immediately deactivated our internet access along with the wristbands — another example of poor guest treatment and a lack of basic hospitality.
This was completely unprofessional and lacking any empathy. We’ve visited Hurghada several times, and never has a hotel taken our wristbands or internet access before departure, especially when one of the rooms was still paid. It’s very unfortunate that such a situation spoiled the end of an otherwise great vacation in a hotel that is otherwise wonderful for both adults and children.
Rating: 4/5 – recommended, but serious improvement is needed in how reception handles checkout situations and treats guests with basic understanding, empathy, and consistency.
In addition to the unprofessional behavior of the front desk manager, I want to mention our experience at Bar Waves.
Although the bar officially closes at 18:00, we were refused service at 17:57 on the first day. On the last day, at 17:53, we politely asked for a drink and were told by a staff member (allegedly the bar supervisor) that it was already 6 o’clock. We showed him multiple phones showing 17:54, but he insisted: “Egyptian time is 6.”
Apparently, Egyptian time runs 6 minutes ahead. 🤪 After this, and everything else we experienced, we will not return and do not...
