DAO — Attraction in Paris

There are so many things that went wrong at this restaurant that I don’t even know where to start. We had originally reserved for Friday 7 February for dinner and karaoke, but the restaurant called to cancel the reservation apologetically on the 5th, so we rescheduled the same services for the following Friday. The restaurant confirmed the table the previous day. When we got there on Friday, the wait staff said they had no table for us and didn’t say anything about the karaoke. It took them 45 minutes to take our drink order. The waiter brought the bottle of white wine to the table and opened it, put it on the table and left to help other customers; I touched the bottle, which was warmer than room temp and we pointed this out when he finally returned. He calmly said that it was the only one they had and we should be happy with that… um, no. We ordered a bottle of whatever white they had that was cold. We managed to order about 15 minutes after that, and the appetisers took another 15 minutes to arrive … again, at room temp and I know they weren’t meant to be so. The server brought two of the five mains (without clearing the starter plates), and, 30 minutes later, the three remaining dishes and the rice for all 5 plates. More of the same through the end of the meal…. And, of course, our karaoke reservation had been totally forgotten. In sum, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE, as there are no adjectives to describe the service. Okay it was cold, like someone said in the review before, I almost got up to leave. But one of the other staff which by the way they don't have uniforms so it's like a family mad house but when you order their signature dish some fish bor. Trust me you would forget all the other issues the place has. There is an underground part to it that makes the restaurant look like a front for something else. Some VIP things happening below dock. You will not get special fried ride here or anything like that. They are very fresh and straight to the point. The mint tea is actual fresh mint leaves. The food is worth the stress. The best Sichuan restaurant, and chinese restaurant period, I've tried in Paris. It's a great place to sample dishes that are very hard to find elsewhere in the city and their chef is truly exceptional.

I strongly recommend their shareable dishes and their dry fried green beans, but I have not tasted a single thing in the ten times I went there that wasn't worth it.

Some people complain about the quantity in the reviews: Don't listen to them. One portion of mapo tofu lasts me two days and I just ordered one portion of Kou Dai Dou Fu which came in two soup bowls, both of which were enough for a single person. I'd say as a rule each "one person" dish on their menu serves 1.5.
