Read moreI don't find this museum as nice as many others in Paris.
This must be the first time I am giving a 1 star to a museum. I am generally generous with museums but this museum finally broke me due HORRIBLE management. Where do they find these managers?
I tried 3 TIMES to enter this museum to look at their collection all three times I was told the collection was closed for a private function. ARE you kidding me?! In the middle of the day when visitors are about.
The second time I went was yesterday. I was told by the attendant the collection was closed. I asked specifically if it was open the next day (today)..he said absolutely. So I went there for the third time (during rain) and noticed that they had barriers at the entrance. The attendant told me the collection was closed for a private function again...Joking? I asked, she said "non!!!.".
You close the Permanent Collection for a private function during the day? No wonder this museum is NOT on the list of "must-sees" in Paris. There are much better run places to see in Paris.
There was NOTHING mentioned on their websites about any private functions or closures..I suppose damn the visitors. Very...
Read moreThis museum surprised and informed me perhaps more than any other in this beautiful City of Light. Though the Louvre offers its own splendor and the Musee d’Orsay is a treasure trove of some of my favorite impressionist artists, and while the beautiful and tranquil Marmoset Museum permits quiet and studied viewing of the works of Claude Monet, in particular, it was the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris that awakened in me a sense of the purpose of Art, and left me questioning why other museums of modern art don’t do a better job with curating and presenting the work of contemporary artists. This museum was like a sanctuary, more than any other that I visited in the city. Its use of light and space is exceptional, propelling the viewer to one enlightened exhibit after another, and inviting one to stop and ponder the meaning of the work at hand.
All in all this is a space I would choose to visit over and over, more than any of the other art museums I have visited in the city. Second in line would be the...
