This review is not for the light house in-se, but for the last show "the grand tour". In general I like their productions but this one is an exception and at least for me it was really disappointing. First: it is not immersive. Everything (see more later) happens on the main wall: all the other walls just show stars, almost all the time. Said that what do you see? For the first 10 minutes just the planets: big spheres that by the way neither rotate (!!) one after the other. There were also rendering issues, for instance when Saturn stops moving before zooming out. Nothing else, basically a big slide show. No moons, no "orbits around" the planets, really... nothing. After that you get 10 minutes of photos from the orbiting telescopes with some minimal weird distortion effects to imitate (I guess) some rotations. The funny thing is the fact there were no transitions between photos. Black screen. Next photo. Why? And what to say about the sound? Nothing. It did not impress me. I was not sure it was multichannel either. At least the show is not too expensive, but they could have done better with their tech and skills. Looking forward to see something more interesting, as...
Read moreParticle Poetry- 3.5 stars for efforts, 2 for my experience. Initially I'd like to say that my review might be biased as I'm not that into light graphics. I watched it cause it looked cool and I thought that it would be a small learning experience about 'particles'. At least that's the idea I derived after going through their website. (Sadly there was very little to no learning experience, nor was it informative). Visually, the graphics were really cool. But the thing is, one can only look at a screen with random light graphics for so long. The 50 minute show was, at most, hypnotizing. (This is my polite way of saying that I kind of slept through the mid 10-15 minutes) After the initial excitement, it was just a screen showing random lights and particles for the next hour straight. I'm sure a lot of work went into it. I absolutely do not want to criticize the efforts, however for someone like me, it wasn't much fun. One interesting aspect that I must mention is that you can lay down/sit down on bean bags and enjoy the surround sound and visual experience, as the screen is not just in front of you but also there are projections on the...
Read moreTourist trap… the whole thing was cheesy and boring. Visuals looked like Windows screensavers… if you’re a media artist, i don’t recommend this. It’s elementary and the experience lacks concept and depth. Visually unappealing, sound is not that impressive. Fell asleep after 5 minutes .. at least i had a good nap. They also had an “infinity room” which is basically a small cubicle with mirrored walls… not impressive at all. I felt kind of insulted.. do they think we are pre-school kids ??? The AI art was very shallow, you dont need to pay 10€ for it, just go experiment on Dall-e or Midjourney…this is the first time i am seeing art that i want to get reimbursed for.. coming from Montreal i have experienced the SAT dome and phi center, which are great in audiovisual immersive experiences. This was sadly not impressive at all. If you are a new media artist and have had 3D audiovisual experiences in a dome before, this will be a complete...
