Unfortunately a long and sad review after an ambivalent dining experience..
After our visit, the word authentic used in the name is questionable. And service and respect got a huge drop in the end.
Atmosphere: The environment feels more like a Indian Cuisine in a modern western culture. The concept should be called fine dining rather than authentic dining. Otherwise Restaurant looks good, welcoming and has a lot space.
Food: Butter chicken was good. Lamb Biriyani was okay, but not a ‘wow’ experience. Flavour of the lamb became subtle due to vegetable got mixed. Usually the lamb flavour comes from the stew/curry that the lamb meat has cooked/stewed in and You take the stew/curry aswell and mix it with the biriyani. But this dish felt more like a vegetarian biriyani with few lamb meat pieces.
We could not say a lot about the appams. Usually appams are sweet, this was very neutral and boring in taste.
Drinks. Mango lassi was sweet and delicious.
Water and a Blanc beer in additional drinks, usual taste :-)
Service: Very welcoming service, caretaking during the meal. As our daughter got hysterical ind the end of our meal, I had to take her outdoor for fresh air and my wife handled the payment. We asked for the bill and payment and waited 15 min. The billing was for the whole meal 74€ (fair and square, no complaints from us) and they wanted additional tip. Unfortunately the terminal only shows tip options in percentages, 10, 15 and 20%, and my wife did not want to pay the tip and only the 74. The waiter then changes his tone aggressively, let out a big sigh in disappointment says “ok” and hits my wifes phone hard with the terminal to take contactless payment and walked away without no further saying.
We ate the meal that was served to us and still enjoyed the meal and atmosphere with respect. We dont support food waste which is why we did not complain and we wanted to speak about this with the manager/chef but unfortunately the waiter in the end at payment left us speechless and our daughter had our first priority.
Respect is what we at least...
Read moreAuthentikka is outstanding. The food, the drinks, the service — everything was perfect.
We ordered: • Garlic naan • Lamb biryani • Butter chicken • Prawn masala • Popcorn chicken
Every dish had depth and care in it. The lamb biryani was rich and full of flavor. The butter chicken was creamy and comforting. The prawns were cooked perfectly. Even the popcorn chicken was crisp and seasoned well.
The drinks were just as strong. I had an Indian Garden and a Noor Mojito. My friend had a Chai Whiskey Sour and a Gin Garden. Each drink felt fresh and balanced, not too sweet, not too strong.
Service was on point. The staff watched the tables without hovering. They were quick to help and always friendly. I called ahead because I was late from work, and they kept the kitchen open for me. That kind of kindness matters.
The price was more than fair for the quality we got.
If you want honest food, great cocktails, and people who care, go to Authentikka. I left full, happy, and already planning...
Read moreWe were a big girl (ladies) group there for Iftar during Ramadan (to break our fast) Although they kindly gave all us, some dates & a glass of water so we could break our fast. And most of us were fasting I was expecting at least a complimentary jug of water or refill the glass at least. As anyone who fasts knows you feel dehydrated in the evening after breaking fast. No, they said you have to order or pay for it! Also when my chicken Biryani arrived, it was far from authentic tasting Biryani. It was neither Pilau nor a Biryani. Just plain white rice with chicken without the Massala and no flavour. I am from Karachi, the hometown of Biryani, I knew it would not be as brilliant as the real deal but was expecting more than this! Biryani is usually served with salad & Raita in authentic style! Sorry, disappointing as presentation of the dish was cute but a small portion for the price charged & the taste, not...
