We of coutes never come back… first, we did entry to the webpage where it didn’t say anything about the reservation, so we came to the place and the girl quickly say no without reservations, I was looking again the page to checked that was my wrong because we never seen the “only reservation”. I told to the waitress that in were part of the page showed that I have to do a reservation and she showed me a telephone ( I never expected that I have to guess that I need a reservation) I’m not live here so in many restaurants here you don’t need reservations.. whatever, I said her this and she response with she didn’t speak English, as cutting the conversation, so my friend, who is German, translate that I wanted to say. She was very kind with my friend, and surprisingly she said him, I can give you a table in 6 minutes, meanwhile we where waiting, there’s was a couple that also didn’t have a reservation and she said them that they can entry in 6 minutes of course they spoke German. During the whole meal she was watching us in a very bad mood, we really were almost laughing because we couldn’t believe the situation (we where three, my friend German, my friend from Argentina and me Chilean), because with my friend German the attention was so kind and really lovely so everyone can understand that the atmosphere was disgusting and at the same time weird. Read moreVastly overrated. For claiming authentic taste, this place sadly falls short of all expectations.
We had a tonkotsu ramen which should be strong and creamy in taste, it was watery thin. Usual side dishes or spices available in every authentic place are either unavailable (chili oil, fresh pressed garlic, pickled ginger, vinegar) or after surprised looks on request. These can't fix the thin soup base either way, so perhaps it's on par. Priced at 14eu.
We've also tried the Buta Don, a rice bowl topped with chachu, a miso soup on the side and a micro portion of kimchi. The chachu was OK, however just around 80-100g, similar to the party on a McDonald's Cheeseburger, the soup was thin and lacking the expected miso taste, and the kimchi was predominantly sour, without any notes of Gojuang or other spices. For another 14eu this is not worth coming again.
Edit: also no card payments... Reduced from...
Read moreI am really sorry I didn't read more reviews before sitting down. My bad. I don't understand how come that this place has 4+ stars. It's ramen and it's not. Tantamen is really thin. Poor topping, small bowl. Sticks are annoyingly wood (two hours later, I still have this woodlike taste in my mouth), and not plastic. Noodles are defo chinese-style. Personnel is mostly chinese. Even the till machine is in chinese (and when I saw it, I realised I was right about my noodles suspect). They should call it "Lamian Hamburg", not "Ramen Hamburg". On top of that, CASH ONLY. In Hamburg. In the 21st century. And no receipt either. It's kinda scam, if you think about it. Only people with little japanese knowledge can take this place as good japanese food. Surely not going back...
