Absolute no go! My husband, 2 kids, 81 year old mother and I wanted to get a table for my mum to sit down and have a coffee with a cake while the four of us walked the 100 meters down the road to have a quick look at the cathedral and then come back and join her. All the 2 chair tables were in the sun so we placed my mum at a 4 seat table knowing we would join her shortly for coffee and cake also. We were yelled at by the waiter that she had to sit at a two person table because he needed this table (although the place was half empty!). When o asked to speak to the manager it only got worse with this man in the picture yelling even further and going to the extent of saying that it isn’t his problem that my mother can’t walk well and that she needed to sit for the few minutes it would take for us to go up and down to join her. He yells and shouts and I’ve never in all my years been treated in this way at a cafe or restaurant ever! Munich is a beautiful city but with people like this to serve tourists it makes it so very very unpleasant.

A disappointing experience at Woerner’s Marienplatz, due to a greedy waiter. When we sat down and asked for an English menu, the waiter told us they didn’t have one—but assured us he was there to help, which initially made us feel welcome. We ordered three desserts and four drinks. The cakes were ok, but the vanilla iced coffee wasn’t cold enough to offer any relief from the summer heat. When the bill came to around €43, the waiter asked if we’d like to add a tip. I agreed to add €5, which felt generous given the already high prices. However, when I paid by card, the machine showed €50. I asked if that was correct, and he said yes—it included the tip. But instead of adding the €5 I had agreed to, he rounded it up, effectively taking more than I intended. That felt dishonest and left a sour impression. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend this café. It seems more focused on squeezing money from tourists than offering genuine hospitality.

I give 2 out of 5 stars. The food was good and would have deserved a higher rating, but the service ruined the experience. We moved to another table to sit in the shade. The waiter who took our initial order came to our new table but refused to take an additional drink order and pointed us to the waiter responsible for that area. That waiter, however, did not want to take the order because the first waiter had already served us, and he sent us back to him. The first waiter then simply shook his head and refused. This behavior was both rude and unprofessional. The bill was 115 EUR and for the first time I left no tip. When the waiter asked if I wanted to add a tip, I just shook my head, exactly as he had done to me.

Absolutely disappointed. I have lived in Munich since August 2023, and am German. I visited Marienplatz many many times, to meet up, to walk around town etc. Each and every time I walked by, this café was completely packed. However, I only had the displeasure once so far to have a friend wanting to meet here. He was there early and let me know he was waiting at a table in their 1st floor upstairs. So upon arrival about 30min after that, I found a long line of people in the middle of the staircase, waiting, unwilling to let me through. When I finally was able to pass by the masses and entered, a more than unfriendly 'head waiter' told me in English where I wanted to go and when I responded in German, that I am meeting a feiend, he sarcastically told me the washrooms were the other direction.

Together with the completely insane prices and overwhelmed (because way too few) waitstaff for this many guests (!!) I absolutely DO NOT recommend this place. I ordered a Latte Macchiato that was more a Cappucchino than anything else (but cost 0.80Cents more as we found at the cash register) and finally paid 17Eur for a water and a disappointing coffee.

Regardless of the truly fantastic view of the whole Marienplatz - but really WHO needs a treatment such as that? I dont even want to know what foreign visitors to Munich, unable to speak German, have to say to this...

Today, I sat down with my family to eat ice cream and rest a bit and enjoy the view, but I immediately received such a rude approach from the waiter. The husband, in order to speed up the service, bought ice cream for himself and the child himself, and at that time I had already ordered drinks and more ice cream. As soon as the waiter saw my husband, he immediately started rudely and loudly shouting that he cannot sit here! I said ok, he will put the ice cream and drink his cappuccino. Another waiter joined in and grabbed the ice cream in a cup without permission and wanted to throw it away! Absolutely inappropriate behavior of the staff! It's the first time in this cafe that you can calmly and politely explain the rules and not shout at the whole cafe that he can't eat it here! The culture of communication is simply absent! Another waiter just started saying if you don't like it get out of here! But I stayed and drank the drinks, although I had to leave it all and not pay for such a shameful attitude towards people, I am already silent that we are customers! I travel a lot, but I have never seen anything like this in my life! Just shameful behavior of the staff! Be polite to each other and learn how to communicate with people!!!!!!!I understand that you are so unhappy and do not like your job so much that you take out your anger...

I am sad they're located in a spot where they'll always get business because reading through the comments made me realize service and treatment is just BAD !!!

We'd just wanted to get ice cream while walking around and it was the first place we saw - I regret it.

We stood in front of the ice cream counter for a good 10 minutes before anyone was even willing to speak to us - everyone kept if ignoring me despite the wide smile I tried to sustain on my face. I couldn't help but think it was a racist thing and wanted to leave when someone finally came and didn't speak a word of English.

I asked to try the Mozart flavor - which is a new flavor for me (apparently it's a German sweet with nougat and marzipan) and the guy said No ! Rude! Like who doesn't let you try an ice cream flavor ?! That should've been my queue to leave ....

But we'd already started our order so I went with a usual suspect one but the ice cream wasn't good at all and I immediately regretted getting it there when I saw the Gelato place across the church. Anyway, when he gave me my cone I noticed he didn't use a napkin to hold it and he wasn't even wearing a glove and he'd just come from the back where he was doing God knows what - so unsanitary.

They need to be checked for Health and Sanitation if someone can't check them for their...
