I write this review for all future Students, bachelors, masters, phd´s and even post doctors. I think you all need to know how this university is treating their students and handling their issues, or maybe I should rather say how they don’t handle their issues.

I am a former ph.d student under prof.S faculty 5. I faced several issues under prof. S supervision. the most important thing being him refusing to let me graduate, although I am fully qualified to graduate, when I asked for a reason, he refused to give me one. This review is however not about prof.s but about how the university handled this issue, by making it far worse.

First we went to the ombudsman, whom prof.s had already talked to, I informed her about my ongoing conflict with prof.s. I told her everything that had happened, and she agreed there indeed was a problem, and that she would try her best to mediate the case, however unfortunately the mediation was unsuccessful, as it only works if both people are willing to come to an agreement, so she had to give up mediation as there was nothing she could do.

Next, I was called to a meeting with HR, however I was given less than 24 hours to prepare, and never told why i was called to that meeting, I also noticed that in the email staff council was in cc, which seemed pretty normal at first glance, however I noticed that the email in cc named staff council, was not the staff council email, it looked nothing like a email staff council would ever use, also at the end it did say .invalid, I did find the real staff council email, confirming that the email put in cc was indeed some sort of fake email.

We then had my meeting with HR, 2 people from HR where present, including a guy from staff council, I told them my story, I raised some severe concerns with them, regarding things prof.s had done, they said they would be doing something about it, one guy from HR said that he would try to solve the issue and would return to me in 2 weeks, and in those 2 weeks I should avoid contact with prof.s. we waited 2 weeks and we had heard nothing, I then send him a email, no answer, I send him another one, no answer, I send him a email saying I would stop by his office the following day, no answer, I also tried to call, no one answered the phone. So the following day we went to his office to meet him in person. He said I should have made an appointment before just showing up (I tried) we asked him what he had been doing up until now, he told me he had done nothing, and that he did not have to do anything. He told me we could set another meeting and talk again, we said okay that is fine. He never set another meeting. We then called the guy from staff council to get some advice, and also an update on the things we reported to him, that he said he would do something about. He told us it is basically useless to fight them, and he did not do anything about the things we reported to him. As a professor and HR are too powerful. Not sure why staff council exist then. We then tried to get a meeting with Hr again, he said he would set another meeting, however, at that point I already knew that that would not happen, and I was right, he never set another meeting. I then wrote a formal complaint that was send to the chancellor, as we were told that that would be the right place to send a formal complaint, however we send it in early July and has still till this day not received an answer. We then send a email to the rector as well, which we also till this day has not received a reply to. In-between all of this I stopped being prof.s´s student, and is now trying to get a new professor within the university, but they have still not found a new professor for me. I finished my dissertation, found all my own external examiners on my own, so all they really have to do is to find me a new supervisor, I have done everything else on my own.

(Note: I want to add this is not posted from my Google account for...

Unorganized Institue with no specific plan for exams . Treat the student as kids in high school with no trust what so ever that each one has to be serious about his study and can find own way of studyin . Their wish is that all study after a template . Limited chances of repeating exam , big chance of losing all studies or having to change studies because of very strict rules . Only 1 try for exam per semester which slows the process of studying . The exams schedule is first announced 1 month after the start of semester. I do not recomend at all studying under this university cause the global feeling between everyone that you can lose all your progress because of having problem with one course . Which left many student between two choices either leave or change subject . This university is not recomended specially for people from foreign countries who has to pay full semester fee . No services suitable for how much a student (no Eu) pays . Campus wise its booring and has no diversity of activities or food posibilities . All shops sell the same stuff . No try to improve the dining services what so ever . If you don't like the food at the mensa you will be stuck with a supermarket or just dry sandwishes from coffeshops there. Staff is mostly untolerant and treats students like robots . When the univirsity is to plame no one asks. When you are to plame you will get it real hard . At the end ill leave you with orginisation chatosrophie last semester where after we all signed to the exams . all exams have been pushed 2 weeks earlier on the second day the exam signing phase closes with the explenation that it suits them best like that . Another example was that people went to do exam to find out it was cancelled and no one let them knew . They studied until the last moment and at the exam morning they got the update that the exam is not taking place . The doors of the hall where closed . And no clear answer was given . A university that dosent know when the exams are and has no intention what so ever to change the old strict rules that are harming students psychologicaly and causing a lot of students to appandon their dream study and comprimise with another one just cause the university is too lazy to make more opportunities...

Everything went downhill since Covid. Now, from all TU9 universities this is the one with the worst study conditions. You think about starting your studys here? Consider

The most expensive university mensa in Germany. The difference to other universitys will be in the range 400-1000€/year if you eat regularly. If you study at Campus Vahingen, there is almost no alternatives as the corrupt university is refusing to allow serious concurence to the shitty mensa.

The worst examination times from all TU9 unis. Usually the exams happen at the beginning of the holidays (with a second exam period at its end) - here, they are spread through the whole holidays. Forget about working fulltime or going on vacation during your holidays

Almost no student life and a boring city, however one of the most expensive in Germany

Horrible conditions with study spaces with all places at the central campus closing until 6-9pm. Seriously, the opening times are awfull for a technical university and no other university is as bad as this one.

Less selection of subjects and expecially in the Masters, worse grades and longer study times. Choosing university will give you a DISADVANTAGE when looking for work. At other technical universities, the average grade in the Master is in the range 1,5-1,7 - here it is MUCH worse, in the range 2,0 and worse. Average time to finish a Bachelor in e.g. Computer Science is OVER 9 semesters. Nobody in HR will care about your univerisity (as long its a known state university) so choosing this one, you only damage yourself.

I made the mistake of doing my Bachelors here (switched Uni for my Masters) and if there is one advise i could tell my younger self its - DONT STUDY HERE. Now all i can do is share the experience and...
