I simply cannot put into words how much I love this place. To begin, the sweet scent alone from across the street drew my friends and I in. We were quickly greeted by the most enthusiastic Italian man I have ever laid my eyes on. I knew this experience would be good from here. He surmised we were from the states and continued to explain the flavors in English rather than Italian without us having to ask. It was simply the kindest gesture someone has done this whole trip ā it almost brought a tear to my eye. As I recall the moments of the tasty gelato staring back at me, I remember beautiful and authentic colors with enticing names and decorations. Simply green flags for this place. My comrade and I suffer from being gluten free which we expressed to him and he was more than happy to assist our needs. He went through each flavor telling us which was safe and which wasnāt, something not many people do for us. Oh, his Italian spirit was radiant and put a smile on our faces ā sorry if Iām getting ahead of myself. Now time for the good partā¦the actual gelato. He recommended that we got the ānormalā size which was two flavors with whipped cream and cherries. I couldnāt be happier with his recommendation. I got the Nutella and white chocolate and my friend got the Nutella and caramel. The first bite felt as though I was running across the beach to my long last soulmate in the beaming sun on a clear day. In other words, it was to die for. The flavors combined so beautifully. When I completed my consumption of the delicacy, It felt like I had both won and lost a war. It was the best thing Iāve ever eaten, but it was gone. We stood in the shop for moments after we finished taking in the Italian atmosphere. In that moment when other friends walked in, we decided one cup wasnāt enough for me. We went in for seconds. That sweet pistachio treat was something Iāll never forget. The creaminess could heal a sick Victorian child from small pox. To put this simply, both the employees and the ice cream were very good and overall a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt is really funny. When you read the reviews for this Gelateria, it seems as if the people were reviewing two different shops. People either praise it to the skies as the best ice cream place ever or complain about bad service and a taste like water with sugar. I was joking to my friends that it seems as if the place would offer great ice cream on five days of the week and then dish out sugarwater on the other two.
Since the place was recommended by our AirBnB host, we had to try it out for ourselves.
And lo and behold the truth is somewhere in between as it is often the case. Yes you have to pay 4.50 EUR or 5 EUR for a big cone, but you get different flavors in it comparable to a regular three scoop ice cone. Choose a smaller cone size if you don't want a big ice cream or pay for one. The flavors were great and my other theory that maybe the people buying the sorbets are the disappointed ones and the others buying the regular gelato are writing the good reviews got overturned when I tried the strawberry sorbet.
Is this place delivering ice cream like the best Gelateria in the entirety of Rome? Of course not. That would really be weird BTW. If you want to eat the best ice cream kn the planrt, you have to find that particular Gelateria in Rome and go there and buy it.
Are they serving the best ice cream in a 20 kilometer radius around Nafplio? I don't know, I didn't try any other places in the area yet.
Was their ice cream like you would expect a good Italian Gelato to be in a Greek city? Yes, it was.
Will we return tomorrow or the next day? Yes, we plan to.
And the owner and his wife were very friendly by the way. Maybe it depends on how friendly you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently tried this gelato after seeing it heavily advertised, but unfortunately, it didnāt live up to the hype. The marketing promised an authentic Italian experience, but the product fell far short. The texture was offāmore like ice cream than true gelato, lacking that smooth, dense creaminess. The flavors were overly artificial, and it was clear this wasnāt made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. It felt more like a mass-produced product rather than something crafted with care. All flash and no substanceāsave your money and seek out a place that prioritizes quality over flashy ads. I had a very disappointing experience with the cashier during my visit. From the moment I approached the counter, they were rude and dismissive. To make matters worse, they kept speaking in Italian, which felt unprofessional and made the situation even more uncomfortable. Instead of offering assistance or being polite, they seemed impatient and annoyed. Customer service is just as important as the product, and unfortunately, this kind of behavior really detracts from the overall experience. A little courtesy would go a long way in...
