We spent part of our summer holiday at Makris Beach Hotel, as a family of four, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience.
The Hotel The hotel has been fully renovated and beautifully blends modern comfort with traditional Cycladic architecture – whitewashed walls, rounded corners, and charming minimalism. Everything is spotless and exceptionally well-maintained. The rooms are elegant and comfortable, though not equipped for self-catering – so cooking in the room isn’t an option. However, we had two efficient air conditioning units and a small terrace where we could relax and enjoy the warm evenings.
Service The service was excellent throughout our stay. The reception staff were warm and helpful. We rented a car through the hotel at a great rate – just €50 for 24 hours, which was around €20 cheaper than other options we found. Housekeeping was done daily, with fresh towels every day and even the dishes were taken care of – truly impressive service.
Breakfast & Restaurant Breakfast is served at Prince Restaurant, which is directly connected to the hotel. It’s definitely worth including in your stay. While not a large buffet, the breakfast is varied, fresh, and very satisfying. The same restaurant also offers delicious lunch and dinner, with hotel guests receiving a 10% discount on evening meals. The only downside is that smoking is allowed at the restaurant, including during breakfast hours, even though the hotel itself is smoke-free.
The Beach The beach is just steps away – approximately 15 meters from the hotel. Sunbeds are available through the adjacent beach restaurant and cost between €20–30 per day. However, this amount is returned as credit to be used for food or drinks at the restaurant. It’s a great setup for enjoying a full beach...
Read moreOur stay here was amazing. We were welcomed by Maria who was a perfect host - smiling, welcoming, interested in what we would like to do while we were in Santorini, provided information about local shops, transport and good places to visit. We stayed in the deluxe one bedroom suite that was amazing. It was newly renovated, and the quality is outstanding. The suite was designed in a way that creates a welcoming, relaxing and local atmosphere, and even the bathroom is designed to suite the theme (we have not experienced a hotel bathroom as well thought out, with so much attention to detail, as this one). We came in the off season, while the restaurant was still being renovated so the way the hotel ensured we still got the breakfast we paid for was by serving us a daily platter on our terrace. The breakfast included a selection of pastries, meats, cheeses, bread, some form of cake with fruits, water, juice, coffee/tea. You could also request adjustments to your individual taste and the staff were happy to meet your needs. You may even get some fresh herbs from the restaurant staff! The location is amazing, there are many shops, restaurants, bars and bakeries close-by, with a bus stop that takes you to the centre, where you can take a further bus to anywhere in Santorini, within a 10 minute walk. The hotel is right on the beach (1 minute walk), and even though we came during off season, we were provided with mattresses for the beach. There is also a hiking trail close-by, with amazing views and cute cats, if you can get to the top. Once again, thank you to all the staff and Maria fot making this experience so enjoyable, memorable and exceptional. We plan to return in the...
Read moreOur stay was exceptional and distinctive. Although the hotel is not particularly large, it exudes a cozy ambiance. Our room was satisfactory and well-maintained, equipped with all the necessary amenities, including beach towels, slippers, toiletries, and a functional refrigerator.
The jacuzzi was remarkable, featuring illumination and bubble jets. The cleaning team demonstrated commendable diligence by attending to our room on several occasions during our stay, ensuring its cleanliness.
The hotel's proximity to supermarkets and the beach, which is approximately 50 meters away, is advantageous.
However, the hotel's most distinguishing feature is its exceptional staff. They displayed utmost courtesy and friendliness, providing comprehensive explanations and recommending various places to visit, including guidance on potential challenges and noteworthy locations.
The breakfast spread was adequate, with fresh fruits and bread. The variety wasn't that big.
It is important to note that the hotel does not have its sunbeds or a private beach. The beach is public, and each restaurant has its sunbeds. Therefore, sunbeds are not free, even for hotel guests. For example, The Prince, a restaurant located in the hotel that also serves breakfast, charges 30 (3rd line, 1st will be 40 )euros per person for a full day. However, this fee is not just for sunbeds; it is the minimum amount that you must spend on food and beverages to stay. I wouldn't consider this as a disadvantage for a hotel, as the rule is the same for all the hotels.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel. It is a great place with a convenient location and...
