Ariale Restaurant Kamari — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

I have already reviewed on Tripadvisor but need to review again as we have had three additional meals at Ariale since! Honestly the best experience we had in Santorini. Italian focused menu with some Greek dishes too. A perfect balance! The staff, where do I start? Everyone was so friendly and remembered us on each return visit. The manager (originally from Albania) I’m sorry we never got your name, was so friendly and great for a laugh. Big shout out to Magda who looked after us so well during our meals. She’s a gem and you’re so lucky to have her. Can’t fault any of the staff, so friendly and kind. The food was amazing and we sampled a lot of the menu!! Starters were delicious, especially the scallops and salmon carpaccio. Can’t fault any of the mains we had and we had a lot! The pastas and seafood were amazing. The meat platter (a lot of food but such value) was amazing and the fish and meat mains were delicious. The desserts were all fantastic, particularly the orange pie. If I could give them 10 stars I would. I ate here on my first night in Santorini and it was incredible. The gnocchi was so well done and just melted in your mouth. So I looked to try somewhere else the next night but nothing else seemed to compare so I returned. I got the seafood appetizer (pic 2) and didn’t realize it was all deep fried. I have a sensitive stomach and they noticed I wasn’t really eating it and offered to replace it. I felt terrible because I’ve been in the industry for over 10 years and hate to complain. It was my fault for not reading the menu correctly but they still replaced it. I got the mushroom risotto and forgot to take a picture but it was also to die for. But then I started having one of my annoying food allergic reactions likely to one of the critters I ate from the seafood platter. They noticed right away and tried to help me and then brought me a cake trying to apologize. They all were so so incredibly kind and I ended up being ok after a pill and lots of water. This place is outstanding! We were looking for a place with beds on the beach that didn't cost an arm and a leg; the sunbeds there were free with a purchase of a cocktail or meal! My friend and I were ready to put away some beers, and Lion, our waiter, didn't disappoint. He was handling what looked to be all the sunbeds, and kept on top of it. He had beers to us before we ran out! We had a good rapport with him, especially as we got a little silly, and he joined on in. He even included my boyfriend, who doesn't drink, and made him feel just as welcome. We were interested in staying for dinner, but my boyfriend is gluten free--the manager, Mario, happily jumped in to help, explaining the tons of gluten free options they had to him. The food was delicious, and the waitresses were attentive. When it was time to go, we needed a taxi, and asked if there was a stand near by.
