Visiting this cultural museum was an absolute delight! I would highly recommend for all visitors! The staff's depth of knowledge truly enhanced the experience. They speak Spanish and English, and Sra. Maria Esther was fantastic and hospitable. She answered a lot of our questions about Lake Atitlan's cultural history, about San Pedro and San Juan's origins, and more.
The museum is broken up into a geological exhibit, a cultural and spiritual exhibit, and a early footage of the pueblos around Lake Atitlan. The museum made the history of the area come alive with fascinating stories and insights. It is also incredibly educational and labeled thoroughly in English. Beyond the informative displays and captivating set-ups, their mission to celebrate cultural heritage shines through.

He taught us all about the geology and volcanology that created has shaped Lake Atitlan. He taught us about the Mayan calendar and our Mayan energies! It was rad! He taught us a lot about the culture of the area and how it has changed in the last 60 ish years. We were able to see a video that showed just how much has changed in San Pedro. It’s was beautifully done. They are continually improving the museum and growing just like the city. I would recommend this museum to everyone!! It was one of the...

The museum itself was pretty rough regardless. You enter, they put you in a small theater room to watch this 10 minute black and white video of the locals back in the 30s or so with no commentary at all. Then you walk through about 3 rooms with some pictures and a few artifacts. All in all a pretty bad experience when I was hoping to learn more about the...
