Pros: The architecture is breathtaking, with incredible attention to detail—it’s a must-see in Budapest. Climbing the dome offers spectacular views of the city, especially at sunset. The basilica comes alive during Christmas with beautiful decorations and festive celebrations—it’s magical. It's central location makes it easy to visit while exploring other nearby attractions. Overall rating is 09/10.

Cons: It gets really crowded, especially during Christmas and peak tourist times. You’ll need to pay extra to visit the dome and treasury, which not everyone expects. The dress code is strict, so plan your outfit accordingly. The climb to the dome can be tiring, especially if you’re not a fan of stairs. Otherwise...

See, experience, OK Budapest !!!

But if you want to enjoy the atmosphere without unpleasant surprises, ask about the prices in advance.

Christmas Budapest 2022 offers skating in the city park - City Park Ice Rink and Boating, a view from the ferris wheel - Ferris Wheel of Budapest and markets on Vörösmarty square and Karácsonyi Vásár Bazilika - Szent Istvan square.

We also tried Margit's Island and Fisherman's Bastion, but don't look for the Christmas atmosphere there. Maybe some local markets near department stores but in housing estates.

In any case, Budapest is beautiful, so enjoy it to the fullest and overlook the minor flaws, they...

St. Stephen’s Basilica is one of Budapest’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit for anyone exploring the city. The exterior is grand and impressive, but the interior is truly breathtaking with its detailed frescoes, marble columns, and gold accents. The atmosphere inside is peaceful, making it a great place for quiet reflection.

If you’re up for it, don’t miss the opportunity to climb to the dome. The panoramic views of Budapest from the top are absolutely worth the effort.

Whether you’re interested in its history, architecture, or simply want to take in the beauty, the Basilica is a highlight...

The Christmas Market located in front of the St. Stephen's Cathedral are simply magical. The stands sell typical food and handcrafted items. The staff also try to keep everything cleaned and vacate the trash cans as fast as possible. The beef stew with pan seared potatoes is simply delicious, and to try are also the langos (a sort of "pizza fritta" - fried dough that can be topped with many different things) and the chimney cake. Highly recommend it! Also the Cathedral is beautiful, the compound ticket that include also the dome and the panoramic terrace cost €14 circa and it's worthy!
