S. MARIA MATER DEI — Attraction in Budapest

Translation: Easy access to Buda Castle without having to pay €15 for the funicular (unless you want the experience, although it’s a short ride), climb the hill, or take the stone stairs under the Statue of the Virgin Mary (Mária-anya szobor). To the right of the stone stairs is the Monkey restaurant, where you’ll find the castle elevator that takes you directly to the castle. To the left of the stone stairs, there are escalators that also lead to the castle.

Easy access to the castle on foot or by tram, although it’s worth walking...

Esta hermosa estatua, de cuatro metros de alto, que representa a la virgen María como "madre de Dios" parece observar y cuidar de la ciudad y su gente desde lo alto de este mirador del Palacio Buda. Hay unas impresionantes vistas desde la muralla sur del castillo. Merece la pena subir sólo por la visión panorámica de horizonte que ofrece este lugar.

El lugar perfecto para contemplar la parte de Pest de Budapest, el Puente de las Cadenas y el Parlamento húngaro. Tanto de día como de noche. En las fotos que saqué se puede observar a lo lejos la Estatua de la libertad de Budapest, situada en la "La Ciudadela" que estaba en obras por reparaciones y renovaciones cuando fuimos.
