We stayed 3 nights here in our month long Europe trip and after having a fantastic stay in 7 cities in a row, we found this hotel inconvenient and disappointing in few vital aspects. First thing first! Breakfast was terrible! Not an elaborate choice and anything tasty. Arrangement of items was not convenient and very congested and in tiers and layers. Due to paucity of space the portions laid out were small. Some times vanished sooner and not replenished anymore either due to lack of attention by the staff or due to running out of stock. One staff told we have no more cucumbers for the day! Also, somehow the items looked and were stale. We eat lot of fresh vegetables and salad! There weren’t many and the available ones weren’t fresh! Nothing much to say about choices of breads. Boiled eggs were offered but weren’t many and quickly ran out. Scrambled eggs weren’t prepared properly - scaly and leathery due to inattentive over cooking as the staff managing were all the time noisily chatting among themselves not bothering about the surroundings or about the things on the pan and the stove. Front desk person sounded impersonal and remote and to some extent indifferent and rude when we checked in. We weren’t welcomed with even a hint of smile but with a frowned face! Location might suit some but not us as we always want to be in the hustle and bustle of real city centre. This place was little away from the main city centre, though the site while we booked told a different story. Rooms were okay but the wifi was terrible. It’s as good as not having it. Only it was strong at the dining area downstairs. There are several areas management has to look at and make changes with times otherwise this place will not be anymore attractive to...
Read moreMuch to like about this hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful, speak English well. The building is a little dated , but very well kept. Rooms are spotlessly clean, and chambermaids do a great job. Breakfast is taken at street level, in a room adjacent to reception. A good range of hot and cold breakfast items are available. Rooms are reasonably sized with a small , but modern bathroom. Mine had a balcony . Bed was really comfortable, room safe worked well, small fridge , tv with a few English channels, plenty of cupboard space, and a good writing desk. Lighting and A/C were fine. Tea and coffee making facilities also. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from a tram stop , trams 19 and 41. 2 stops to Szent Gellert ter , where you can connect to Metro or buses, plus many restaurants in this area. It is in a quiet and safe area, and well located for public transport, plus only one street back from a beautiful view of the Danube riverfront. A really good choice for the budget conscious visitor...
Read moreReally enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It's in a great location; less than 2 minutes walk to the river and nearest tram stop, about 15 minutes walk to the Castle District and about 20 minutes walk over Elizabeth Bridge to the Pest side of the city. Although the rooms aren't the biggest, they were clean, the beds were really comfortable, the heating worked well and there were the usual facilities such as a TV, hairdryer, mini toiletries, a small mini bar and tea/coffee (although no milk). Staff were friendly and helpful, for example they brought us an extra pillow less than an hour after we asked for it Breakfast was good where you could help yourself to cereal, bread/toast, tea/coffee, juice, yoghurts, cheese, ham, jams/honey, croissants and cooked items. Just be aware that if you have a room at the back (nearest the local church), you can hear the church clock chime every 1/4 hour from 6am until 10pm. Overall however, we enjoyed our stay and it's a nice,...
