Me and my girlfriend booked this hotel as our last stay due to early flight tomorrow morning. Outside of the bedrooms, the hotel looks amazing with expensive materials, staff was friendly and check in and check out were smooth, sadly that's all the positive we have for this hotel. The room we received was clearly a much older room that was retrofitted by people who don't care but simply trying to check some boxes. Issues with bathroom: - The bathroom faucet handle would hit the sink when you turn it on - The bathroom sink was designed with in recess sink but was fill in and installed with this sink, making the counter too high (I'm 6 feet tall) - The bathtub in raised and no step making it dangerous to go in and out when wet. - Water shield too small making water go everywhere - no fan and the window barely open therefore making the hot steam no where to go but in your room - door lock is failing apart with a hole that's not cover in anyway - The rain shower head barely clear the roof of the building making the water goes everywhere. - The hot and cold water adjustment is designed to be install a lot higher off the floor, making you bend down to adjust the hot water, the result of this movement is that your hand will touch the hot water supply, it is not enough to burn you or anything but felt hot. Definitely something I never encounter with any other hotel. Issues with bedroom: - We made a request for a queen but was given two twin, we then have to combine it ourselves - Bedroom soundproofing is horrible, noise from the bar can be heard till almost 1AM even with the window shut. - The window barely open making the room very hot. We turned everything down but the heat is coming from somewhere else. - The installer put newer blinds outside on the older blinds, making the inside one not adjustable, but the newer blinds are not sun blocking. It wasn't an issue for us since we woke up early, but I can see this being an issue for others who wanna sleep in a bit. Since we only stay the one night and have early flights, we did not experience the restaurant. Overall it was a below average stay while paying above average money, wish we would stay somewhere else a little newer and design for comfort instead of this perceived 1990s Chinese luxury that focus more on style than substance.

Don't be fooled by the interior. Me and my husband stayed there for two nights over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Check in with reception lady was not welcoming. We asked to change the room as we like to sleep on one bed not two single ones connected together. We got DeLux which was even smaller then the double room we booked previously, basically for one person. We decided to stay. Then we noticed lots of broken things around the room, holes all over, cables out. There was no toilet brush either. Breakfast was unpleasant from the start forcing us to wear masks, we understand that but no one was wearing one even staff in the kitchen. Reception lady was making us uncomfortable. It felt like she had problem with us. The same day later on when we approached here to ask about mask requirements at the time, both kitchen staff was just next to her no wearing one, she still was insisting on us wearing one. Then one kitchen staff said to us that he don't believe in masks that's why they don't wear one and their boss would be angry if they don't wear one. We were confused. Picking and choosing who has to wear it... That's their system. Christmas day evening reception Mihau, again rude from the start. He was very dismissive. Room service was non existent. That night we couldn't sleep as there was a party in next room to us till 4am. Banging on the wall, radiator. The walls are soo thin you can hear a conversation. Hotel was nearly empty, who puts guests in rooms next to each other in this case. The bar also was out of limits, even to sit down. My husband send an email to the reception that night to find out about details of the owner but we have heard nothing since. My husband has been bitten in 3 places on his leg over night. We are still trying to figure out what it was. What a disappointment. If you choose this hotel don't expect luxury, expect a poor service with sleepless nights. We are still waiting for the owner or manager to contact us.

In order to stay at this hotel, I was asked for a credit card. I told them, the card was already on file and I already prepaid for the room. In addition, the card on file and it matched my physical ID I gave. Despite this, the night receptionist said he will not give me the room if I don’t give another credit number. I have my spare card because it was late at night, and I just needed a place to sleep. I was then required to sign a liability release disclosure, which had questionable language (picture attached). I was told the disclosure was mandatory, so I signed it and went to bed. After checking out, I reviewed the hotel’s policy (photo attached) and discovered that the credit card deposit is only required for groups of five or more, not for individual guests. There was no mention of a requirement for booking through third party sites. Which Icelandic law that is it not required to collect hotel guest information: General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Icelandic Data Protection Act No. 90/2018. To make matters worse, the night receptionist (pictured) was unhelpful, which was disappointing, especially since the morning receptionist was incredibly kind and helpful. On top of these issues, the bed in my room had black dots, likely indicative of past bed bug activity. The chairs also had crumbs in the crevices (photos attached). While it seems the bed bug issue was treated, the cleaning staff clearly missed cleaning the crevices properly in the chair and bed. Normally, I wouldn’t mention the bed or chair, but given the lack of help from the night receptionist, I feel compelled to share this experience. Even if it was policy, the night receptionist should have been more accommodating and willing to work through the situation. In other words, the night receptionist caused this one star review.

After missing our connecting flight due to a mechanical issue, Icelandair put our family up at Hotel Keflavik. The hotel staff were superbly nice and attentive. Considering that we were not paying for our rooms or meals, I expected a worse hotel with worse service. I am happy that those negative expectations were not met. The room was a nice size for the three of us. The room and bathroom were well cleaned. Even though it was -11 outside, the room was warm all our stay. The bathroom was very modern and spacious. Baths were easy to take and showers were easy with strong hot water never running out. Meals at the restaurant were well made and tasty. Service was decently quick and attentive. The breakfast had varied items and opened up early enough to catch the earliest of flights out. The bar near reception is gorgeous with great barmen on staff. Additionally, the Christmas decorations throughout the hotel were top notch. The nutcracker and mechanical ice rink kept my kids attention for more than I thought humanly possible. If you need to stay in this area of Iceland, I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff, rooms, and overall cleanliness are top notch.

I was forced to stay at this hotel against my will due to Iceland Air delaying my initial flight for "software issues" resulting in me missing my connecting flight. Their solution was to simply book the same flight 24 hours later. They then booked me and the rest of the passengers rooms at this hotel while we were stranded in Iceland until the next day's flight. Generally, being a human, certain needs are required for function and continued existence. These needs include food, water, shelter, and general hygiene. This hotel only met 2/4 of these requirements, specifically shelter and general hygiene (though the bathroom definitely leaves more to be desired). Our food option upon arrival to the hotel was literally dried up, brown meatballs (unknown meat source) and brown "goulash". There were no vegetables, fruits, beverages aside from tap water, or other options for guests with dietary restrictions or small children. I have provided a picture of the food we were offered as evidence to support my claim. I strongly advise anyone reading this to seek alternative lodging if staying in Iceland (hopefully by choice and not an Iceland Air imprisonment).

We stayed here twice on our two week trip and both nights were great! You cam tell it's been recently renovated/in the process of being done so the only complaint I have was a couple holes in the ceilings that hadn't been patched up and had wires coming out. Staff was all pretty great and friendly - had one issue when we were supposed to have a cab called ahead and ready for us but that wasn't a huge deal we got one fairly quickly. Wish they had a shuttle service to the airport - taxis aren't cheap. Resturant and bar were great as well as the AMAZING complimentary breakfast! We also arrived early on our first day so we stopped in hoping our room was ready early but it unfortunately wasn't but they were kind enough to tuck our bags away so we could go explore. We found out we were supposed to be in 402 and were moved to a different floor because that room was ready sooner so I think we actually got downgraded on the room but we didn't mind as the room we got was nice and the beds were comfy. Would definitely stay here again if/when we make it back to Iceland! (Forgot to take photos of the rooms but got some of our delicious dinner!)
