Aurora Reykjavik, the Northern Light Center, is a fabulous and unique place to visit, and I totally recommend it. I went there on my own on a Saturday day (as a part of self-discovering the city) and had so much fun. I really want to go back and show this place to my partner. He is from Portugal, has always dreamt about seeing aurora lights in Iceland, and is very interested in all the science behind it. Once you are there, you decide how deep you want to explore all the knowledge behind the aurora lights, but just so you know, it is all there for. The staff is very welcoming and warm. There are a lot of things to do and see, and you can go there for many different purposes. I think this is a great place to go for a romantic date (there is a lovely café with a nice selection of teas and coffees and something to nibble). You can, of course, get a lot of information about aurora lights in Iceland and across the world. If you have kids, take them with you; they will have a lot of fun, and what is better than educating and having fun at the same time? They have a lot of digital tools available to make your trip into the magical world of aurora so interesting! To sum up, even if you are on a short trip in Reykjavik or live here, do not miss this place, as it is a sweet precious gem in the world of museums! I was taken by this place, especially because of the warm, welcoming staff, coziness, and tools they offer. Thank you.

This was the closest we got to seeing the Northern Lights during the blizzard we experienced. We finished the tour in about an hour, which includes reading through the folklore/history of the lights across various countries, scientific information, the two videos (picture slideshow of the lights across cities of Iceland, and second video explaining the science of it), and an interactive room. We took a boomerang video to capture our visit! The end of the experience lands you in their gift shop. There is also free coffee and tea! In this room also includes a 360 experience with VR goggles, which was my favorite part of the whole museum. It shows various aurora bourialis scenic views. Overall, the information was interesting but could be easily found online. If possible, skip the paid part and go to the gift shop side and try the goggles.

This should not be classified as a museum. It is certainly a tourist trap. I did expect that a bit before going, but not quite as much as it was. It's a few facts printed on large boards, very small rooms. They have a 'video' room, but it is just a giant ad for their northern lights DVD. The tour groups completely clog up the tiny rooms. I couldn't even read the boards for most of my time there and a museum employee asked me to leave one of the rooms while I was reading a poster so a tour group could fill in! The pictures I have posted are after a group filtered out and before the next group filtered in. If you go in knowing it isn't much and that it is just a way to waste 20 minutes, then you'll be OK. Don't expect anything more. LESSON: if a place blocks the view until after you pay, then they know it isn't worth paying for.

The museum explains really well the science of the natural phenomenon that is the aurora borealis in a logical, well-structured manner. We also liked how there was also information on how different cultures interpret the northern lights. Our visit at the Aurora Museum in Reykjavík really helped us during our hunt for the northern lights (which we were fortunate enough to see multiple times). We had a great time at the Aurora Museum and I think it would be worth visiting here during the day if you’re hunting the aurora later that night! We returned to Iceland recently. The mobile phone photography tips that we learned from both Aurora Reykjavík and Sea Trips Reykjavík in October came in handy when we snapped photos of strong auroral bands over Iceland's beautiful capital in December!

We arrived to Iceland in the beggining - middle of August, and for sure were'nt supposd to see the northen lights which was something I in personally really wanted to see. Thankfully and thank to this wonderful museum I had the privilege to get as close as I could to the experience it selfe. And after I read about this remarkable people who build and developed this museum with their own knowledge and money I was super impressed! The museum is full with knowledge, folklores, pictuers and videos in high quality, also I spend close to an hour and a half, and I could stay longer.. (which I herd the visit takes about 30-40 min') but I was very fascinated by all. So in conclusion definitely worth the money and the time!!! Thank you guys!!! Kinneret from ISRAEL

Very good place to see all about the Aurora in the world, the kind of aurora, the differences between countrys and science information about the origin of aurora ecc ecc, latitude perfect to see and others information how the camera settings to catch and the best weather and calendars chances to catch this very wonderful light fenomen in the sky of the heart. Unfortunately I'm the unique visitor, but the museum is opened and the girl to the desk is very helpful. This is a private museum, but I see passion to the argument and carefully to the exposition (small but there are a ll that you need to know about Aurora). Thank you so much and we see you again after the covid 19 situation :) Bye!
