Sarnath, located near Varanasi, is a major attraction for tourists and Buddhist devotees alike. This serene and historically rich site holds immense significance in Buddhist tradition. It is here that, around 528 BCE, at the age of 35, Gautama Buddha delivered his first sermon after attaining enlightenment at Bodh Gaya. This pivotal moment in history marks the establishment of the Buddhist sangha, as Buddha's first five disciples—Kaundinya, Assaji, Bhaddiya, Vappa, and Mahanama—achieved enlightenment.

The beauty of Sarnath is accentuated by its peaceful gardens, where a very beautiful and tall statue of Lord Buddha stands majestically. This statue not only serves as a symbol of peace and enlightenment but also as a reminder of the profound teachings that originated in this sacred place.

Visitors to Sarnath can feel the deep spiritual ambiance that pervades the area. The historical and cultural significance, combined with the tranquil environment, makes it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the spiritual and historical heritage of Buddhism. Whether you are a devout follower or simply a tourist seeking to understand the roots of Buddhist tradition, Sarnath offers a truly...

Update: Revised my rating upon clarification by the team managing the place. But that still does not justify the discrimination I was subjected to. Will definitely visit again, hoping that things have changed since my last visit. My experience: The place is beautifully maintained but that does NOT matter. Indians are not allowed in the place. The guard outside lied to me and made an excuse that some construction work is going on and the garden is closed. After some time I saw some foreigners going in. This discrimination is not spiritual and definitely not wise ( Guard even tried to stop an Indian origin couple from UK ). It took some confrontation from their part before he let us in. Im appalled to see a place like this in India. Even though after a discussion, I was allowed inside but by that time I had completely lost the interest and the feeling of simply sitting quietly there and enjoying the view. Owner should put a banner that it's a private property or that explicitly foreign passport holders are allowed, instead of branding as a tourist attraction( I came through Google maps). Anyone against this discrimination shouldn't be...

The garden is the newest attraction for tourists coming to Sarnath. Many tourists who visit Sarnath have a deep interest in Buddhism. The garden uses a mix of exhibits and sculptures to convey the essentials of Buddhism. The exhibits convey the essence of Indian spirituality in an easy to understand language illustrated with graphics. The garden is beautifully made and the tourists love the heavenly experience of this sacred site. With increasing complexity of modern life, knowledge for the purpose of earning a living alone is considered insufficient. The garden seeks to ignite an interest in the visitor to further explore the subject of spirituality.
