Read moreIts a dead mall. Although arguably quite high-end and relatively new. I assume due to strong competition from other nearby malls like Lotte Shopping Avenue and Mall Ambassador. There are a few restaurants on the ground floor, and a low-end bazaar was happening when I visited. Its often not the prime destination for Jakartans so its filled mostly by office employees on their lunch break. The only thing worth mentioning is the Visa Processing Centre (VFS Global) which is responsible for the processing of visas to the Japanese, Canadian, British, and most of European embassies. These are located on the 1st and 2nd floor. There’s also XXI cinema with competitive ticket prices. The 3rd floor is eeriely empty and nothing was open. Shopping options are very limited with only a few mid-end brands available. It also lacks a Department store unlike most malls.
I think the problem with this mall is that its too “generic”. Jakarta has so many malls and I don’t see anything special about this one. Its tenants are also subpar at best so there’s no strong enough reason to choose Kuningan City unless you’re applying for a Visa. Their attempt at a thematic experience is the “rock garden” located in the atrium of the mall which is just sad (its just these large rocks embedded to the floor, totally out of place if you ask me). The layout of the mall reminds me a lot of Lotte Shopping avenue with its many atriums but it still appears ‘bland’ as opposed to ‘grand’. If they have more big name stores or at least designate themselves as a food destination, maybe they can gain more visitors. Its a real shame because the location is...
