Every time I walk near La Scala's view or Piazza della Scala I ❤️it. Yesterday it happened to me to be there with a friend that pointed out to me that La Scala is known and appreciated all over our wonderful World but its presentation/ building is not such breathtaking.. I had to admit that indeed it's so compared to other not so mentioned but still amazing Opera Houses in other spots.. On the other hand.. Think about the history of La Scala, the sound, the amazing programs since long time, the ancient times and really so much more. As a Tourist it is often hard to get a fair priced ticket at the needed date, but if it happens to You to stand in front of it and be a bit disappointed, scratch on the history, the technical aspects that made it one of the famous Opera Houses and take the time to join at least...

This small but elegant piazza fronts the Teatro alla Scala - one of the most famous opera houses in Italy. Good place to take a rest and admire the front of the Teatro. Wide lanes for walking through, and some benches positioned beneath a few trees for a respite form the sun on warm days. When we were here, there were quite a few people in the piazza for it being mid-day. The odd thing to me was the monument to Leonardo da Vinci in the piazza, I would have expected maybe a famous singer or Milanese architect.

This is a great public space that Milan is attempting to keep intimate. I suspect that this is to counteract Piazza Duomo, a short distance away, which is huge and constantly mobbed by thousands of tourists. The last time I visited Piazza della Scala, the city had brought the countryside to the middle of a large metropolitan area by planting vegetables and grapes. The vines actually carried grapes that were ripe and ready to eat, but were left alone by awed and appreciative visitors.
