We were with a travel agency and they booked for us this Pizzeria. They told us it’s amazing. However, that didn’t seem like that. The pizza’s crust was chewy, not crunchy (it was a thin crust). Nothing special, just some commercial mozzarella on the dough. It seemed that the pizza was prepared a head of time. The next plate was chicken with orange sauce on top. The chicken was perfectly cooked, but it had a very bad smell. The salad next to the chicken wasn’t special at all. It was just some lettuce. However, the only thing I liked were the fries !! Their tiramisu was below average. I am having your local dessert; why don’t you prepare it perfectly ? It’s sad to have such food in such a place, next to the Vatican. It’s disappointing when such an amazing décoré is lost in such bad food. I don’t blame the shop because I might think that the travel agency ordered for us those items since they were the cheapest maybe. I hope they retake their menu into consideration ,for this Pizzeria has one of the most amazing...
Read moreTook a tour - which I usually don't - and been brought here for lunch. Didn't expect much, but was positively suprised.
Even though pretty much packed, the staff/service was friendly and attentive. Food still came out pretty quick, drinks got on our table fast (nice and cold Italian beer). Complementary Tomato bruschetta was on our table. Fresh, crunchy, tasty. Chose the Lasagna and the Penne. Both honestly didn't look like anything special. The Lasagna was pretty solid though. Enjoyable.
But even better was the Penne. It's a simple dish with the tomato sauce and the parmesan. But the ingredients were of good quality (nice fruity tomatoes) and the pasta cooked perfectly al dente. A really good dish.
Prices were - given its location next to St. Peters Square - very fair. A really nice suprise. Really enjoyed...
Read moreAfter exiting the Vatican complex we stopped to ponder our next move- my mum and i were hungry- this gentlemen walked up to us with his menu and ( like all the others) tempted us for lunch at his place. the menu ( with pictures) looked good. so we asked where this was. the gentlemen points down an alley (!) and says " down thee, to the right. if you don't like- that's okay" my mum and i were dubious of a stranger telling us to go down an alley in the center of Rome. he could see this and said " come i will lead you!" we followed. and boy did we enjoy it! it was around 2:00pm so the restaurant was empty. we had awesome food, the service was nice, and though everything was in Italian were muddled by. glad we took the risk- go see this place!...
