Ca' d'Oro is stunning and has some beautiful art works. Unfortunately, we chose to visit during the Divine exhibition - I'm a jeweller and was very interested to see the works. However, I was very disappointed. The jewellery was poorly displayed and catalogued with no information about the piece, materials, history or the film it featured in. Even more disappointing, several of the pieces were obviously mis-labelled. The cabinets housing the jewellery were positioned on the top floor with their backs to the wall blocking off what looked to be beautiful frescos on the wall - quite baffling that they'd chosen to do this, when they could have had the cabinets positioned back-to-back along the centre of the room so that both the jewellery and the frescos could have been easily viewed. To top-off the experience, we were shooed out of the gallery at 6.55pm, despite the fact that they advertise the closing time as 7.15pm. Disappointing...
Read moreI wasn't a big fan of the art collection and would say to leave this for last if you have time; Venice has better to offer. There are a few pieces that were a treat to see (and some by well-known artists) but there were many lesser works by lesser known artists. There was also some more modern art as recent as the current year I visited. It was nice to see them trying to have a variety but I wasn't a huge fan of most the modern art pieces. My favorite thing was the large mosaic floor in the courtyard of the ground floor which we almost missed. It's really excellent. Also be sure to go out to the outdoor balcony to get a peek at the Grand Canal.
I believe this place takes credit cards for tickets but the machine was broken when I went so had to use cash. They offered to hold my backpack for free. Not sure if that's normal or even mandatory. And don't buy tickets online because there won't be any line and you can save money on the...

My visit to the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca' d'Oro was a decent experience overall. While the palace itself was nice, I wouldn't rate it as a must-see in Venice compared to other attractions.
However, there were definitely some highlights. The patio offered a lovely respite, and the views from there were quite pleasant. It's a nice spot to take a break and appreciate the surroundings.
If you have some extra time in Venice and are interested in seeing a well-preserved palace, then the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca' d'Oro is worth a visit. But if your time is limited, there might be other attractions that offer a more impactful...
