This is one of the greatest attractions of Kamakura. Located very near to the Hase dera temple, this Great Buddha is a must visit. The entry ticket is 300 yen. Its a large statue that is a charm on its own. Many people are also seen to worship there by offering fruits and incense. Don't miss the large size slippers of Buddha hung on the left side (building complex) of the Buddha. For a small fee you may even visit the inside of the statue.

2016.08.29 Of all the gates carved into the rock (Kirito-shi), this one has the most rustic feel. Around 1240, to enter the city of Kamakura, you had to go through a path carved into the rocky mountain like this. In other words, the city of Kamakura is a natural fortress. Now, there is a two hours hiking route from Kita-Kamakura Station to the Great Buddha, with a park you can take a rest.

Obviously a crowded and major attraction point but it reached that status for a reason. The Great Buddha statue is stunning. Especially when you take into consideration how long ago it was built. A trip to Kamakura without at least stopping by to see it is a trip wasted.
