2.12.2024 - eizan railway momiji tree tunnel
No reservation needed. I suggest take the Kirara train from Demachiyanagi station to get a seat. If you didnt plan to stop at the other temple, u can just exit after Ninose station and go back. Great view from there too Check the Kirara timetable. They will start illumination at 4.30pm and end at 8pm. So just enter around 4.15pm and start quieing to get the best seat (the sideways seat is the best) Technically the Momiji tunnel is only from Ichihara station to Ninose station. They will slow down the train for 90sec so u can see the illumination. If you dont want to take from Demachiyanagi Station, you can just take from any station along the Kirara line but you may not get any seat (just standing) We didnt get seats otw back and cant really get any views Worth to go here if you are in kyoto during the illumination this year. Only open till 8th dec...

It’s easier to get a seat if you board from Demachiyanagi Stn, though the momiji tunnel is only btw Ichihara Stn and Ninose Stn. Frankly it’s easier to get a good video if you’re standing right at the front (behind the driver’s seat) rather than if you’re seated down. I would suggest taking the train right till the end, alight at Kurama Stn and take the opp to visit...
