During our recent trip to Kyoto, we had the pleasure of visiting the Pokémon Center Kyoto, and it was an experience worth every moment.
Located on the 5th floor of the Takashimaya Kyoto Store in the Shijo-Kawaramachi shopping district, the Pokémon Center Kyoto offers a delightful blend of traditional Kyoto aesthetics and the whimsical world of Pokémon. The store's design features elements like a life-sized Pikachu adorned in a kimono, reflecting the city's rich cultural heritage. The ambiance is serene and welcoming, providing a refreshing contrast to the bustling city outside.
The store offers a wide range of merchandise, including plush toys, stationery, accessories, and home goods. What sets this location apart are the exclusive Kyoto-themed items. We were particularly enchanted by the special Pikachu plush dressed in a kimono, a perfect souvenir to remember our visit. Additionally, the store features a variety of Pokémon Trading Card Game products, video games, and interactive experiences like photo booths and claw machines.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, assisting us in finding specific items and providing information about limited-edition products. Despite the store's popularity, the atmosphere remained relaxed, allowing for a pleasant shopping experience without feeling overcrowded.
Whether you're a dedicated Pokémon collector or a casual fan, the Pokémon Center Kyoto offers a unique and memorable experience. The blend of cultural charm and Pokémon magic makes it a must-visit...
Read moreI went in here today in the early afternoon, and then went right back in after my first purchase because it was just so much I wanted to look at and buy! I found that this Pokemon Center offer a great selection of high quality! It was not too busy when I was here, which was nice💞 The staff was also super friendly, patient and not judgmental in any way. For instance, for my first purchase I accidentally, without noticing, put a tax-free coupon from somewhere else while I struggled to fish out money from my quite messy bag. The cashier politely handed it back to me, and he did not make a big deal out of it. The second time, I was asked by the cashier if I play Pokémon GO, followed by a question if I can show my account. As a person who get easily stressed, this second question caught me off guard as I did not understand the purpose of showing my account or what of it she wanted to see, so I just stood there for some solid seconds and froze up out of confusion, not really knowing what to say. But instead of making this an even more awkward situation for me, she just kindly brushed it off and then continued handling the purchase. These two interactions, which could have easily made me feel foolish, left a positive impression because it made me feel safe about making mistakes or having confusions! It truly demonstrated how much kindness the overall staff shows towards their customers❤️
I highly recommend visiting if you are a...
Read moreThis store is very easy to find. Right at the bus stop, visible from the street. Just go up the escalator or staircase. The area only has the Pokémon store, it is not shared with a bunch of other stores like in Osaka.
We arrived about 10 minutes before the store opened and we were pleasantly surprised by the staff neatly organizing people in lines in preparation of the doors opening. Once it was 10am, they guided pine by line inside and waited until more space became available inside.
The store had lots of plushies, of which also the three kimono Pikachu. They also had stickers, TCG related items, food and snacks, accessories, socks and more. Their displays are a large Lugia, a Pikachu riding a Ho-Oh, a kimono Pikacho and the scarlet &violet starters.
The check-out line is separated from the store area, so people won't crowd up the aisles while waiting to pay for their things. Staff at checkout was super friendly and helpful.
The Kyoto Pokémon Center is a million times nicer and better organized than the one in Osaka. If you are going to both cities, I'd recommend this...
