I wanted to shout out to Kyoko Inazawa and the team for the outstanding customer service! Here is a very heartwarming story I would like to share.
We just came back from Japan for our honeymoon last month. We shopped at Hanshin to buy some souvenirs to take home before our flight later that day. So we bought these Mt Fuji chopsticks, but when we got back to the US and unwrapped them, we realized they gave us the wrong ones. So I rang the department store, found someone who spoke English and told her what happened and asked how we can get the Mt Fuji chopsticks even if need to pay for them. They emailed us a couple of days later to say they will send us the set and will let us to keep the existing set. We received them today by express post from Japan. i felt so emotional by looking at these beautiful chopsticks because I was extremely upset that the wrong set of chopsticks were given to us and for me to only realize it after we flew back. The team was apologetic and communitive. I am so impressed by your dedication for customer service and you go above and beyond to showcase your customer obssession! Thank you so much again for sending us the chopsticks, you made our trip extra special. These chopsticks will remind us the beautiful country we visited and the kindest people we met along the way. Japan, you are truly special! And Hanshin, we will be back again to visit your...
Read moreWe were purchasing beef near closing time, at roughly 6:45pm. We knew that if we came at a later time (around 7), there would be a larger discount on beef. We chose a couple cuts of beef, without discount, and proceeded to purchase the meat. As we were about to pay, we noticed that the tray of beef we had chosen from had been removed from the display cupboard. We asked the staff if the cuts we had purchased were subject to any discount, which the staff said no. We suspected something fishy, since the staff had began to put on discount stickers on the various packs of beef. We proceeded to pay regardless, waiting slightly to see if they would put a discount sticker on the beef we bought, and as our transaction went through, the staff brought out the tray of beef we had bought from, with a 20% discount sign. Obviously we had just paid and witnessed this and was unhappy, since we had just purchased the identical product at a higher price! The staff should’ve told us that the beef we were going to buy was going to be on discount, or not bring out the identical plate of beef at a discount right after we paid! They clearly knew we were tourists and waited for us to pay for the beef, then brought out the discounted ones! We felt deceived by the staff. The staff’s english was also limited, would recommend purchasing from the other beef stall...

Oh my, how would I dream to have such a supermarket in SG!
The variety, the exceptional quality, the attention to detail at every corner.
This is the True La La Land of every foodie!
One cannot help but to admire such a display of perfection, I wish I could just move in there and try something from every counter!
It’s just flabbergasting to be exposed to a floor of food from every variety, representing many cultures which are popular in Japan, it is actually quite overwhelming!
Yes, one can dream, and I know what’s gonna happen when I get back, visiting the market place or Cold Storage or NTUC, or even the popular Japanese Supermarket at Shaw Center, I will walk out empty handed, (or pretty much so) as my mind is still at Hanshin, and I can’t get the quality even just a little close! Makes me feel like I am living in a distant country! (Saying 3rd world would be a tad harsh) but really it’s just such a massive difference how the Japanese in general treat their produce and their food in general!
Oh well, dream I can, until reality hits me! 😇
Enjoy!
