Kojitsu Sanso — Attraction in Tokyo

Service of the staff was kind of poor and I was shocked. We had a few pairs of pants we wanted to try and the staff seemed to have an issue with us trying that many pairs. I felt like we were being interrogated on whether or not we were going to buy all of them. I told them we don’t know which one we would buy, if any at all, and that we’re still trying them on, but that didn’t seem to be good enough. Didn’t make me feel welcome at the store, which is so unlike Japan. I was speaking Shanghainese to my cousin and it felt like it was because of that. Well-kept and neat store of camping and mountaineering items. It's also easy to find from Ikebukuro Station's West Exit across the Tokyo Metro Theater and the park nearby.

The price range is from average-to-expensive. While there seems an adequate display of hiking shoes, I hope they add more styles from each brand.

店内は想像していたよりもかなり狭く、取り扱っているブランドは多いものの、それぞれの商品数はごくわずかでした。お目当てのウェアやシューズのブランドも、たった2〜3型しか置いておらず、カラーやサイズも全く揃っていない状況で、正直「総合アウトドアショップ」というより「ブランド寄せ集めのアウトレット品処分店」のような印象を受けました。

また、店員の数が明らかに足りておらず、一人で多くの客を相手にしていて常に忙しそうで、話しかけるのも難しい状況でした。加えて、接客態度も非常に残念で、不快な思いをしました。

登山前の休日、両親に合うシューズを探しに訪れたのですが、私と母が商品を見ている間、66歳の父が試着エリアのベンチに座って、ほんの2分ほどスマホを見ていただけで、店員からすぐに「こちらはお試し用の席なので」と促され、入口付近に移動させられました。

しかしそのすぐ隣では、4人家族の母親が7〜8足の靴を広げて長時間選んでおり、父親は子どもたちがベンチの上を登ったり降りたりして遊ぶのを、注意もせずにただ見ているだけという状況でした。ベンチの大部分をその子どもたちが占領していたにも関わらず、店員は全く声をかけようとしませんでした。

その対応の差に納得がいかず、店員に理由を尋ねたところ、「あちらは小さいお子様連れですので」との返答でしたが、だからといって高齢の家族には配慮しなくていいという考え方には、大きな違和感と不公平さを感じました。
