Tokyo city is full of shopping malls and center. Some of the shopping malls have an interesting history and the architect itself is truly great from an aesthetic point of view. This one used to be an old train station and changed to a charming shopping center. If you take a tour inside of it you’ll see a small space where it displays the pictures of its old looks. It says the old train station was built in 1912. It’s just amazing to see the idea that the old thing coexist with the modern one at the same time.

We remember when this was the train museum. Bringing the kids long ago to see Thomas and Friends. Now it is more fun for adults with a craft brewery with a damn nice drop, even one with 8% alcohol. Good alternative to the monotonous maidcafe options on the other side of the river. Seems some staff are functionally bilingual and English menu also available. Taster Set for ¥980 a good starter. Nibbles better than izakaya. We will be back.. 🤗😎

神田万世橋のたもとにある、旧国鉄中央線の万世橋駅跡地にオープンした商業施設。 万世橋駅はもともと中央線の始発駅として整備された、都内屈指の一大ターミナル駅でした。 その後、東京駅への延伸と関東大震災による駅舎焼失、その後の区画整理により駅前通りが裏道となる等が重なり衰退。 駅舎跡地の大半が鉄道博物館となり細々と営業を続けましたが、昭和19年、戦局の悪化に伴い「不要不急駅」であるとして廃駅となりました。 駅設備や備品の多くは、同時期に開業した京浜東北線新子安駅へ転用されたと云われています。 ※新子安駅は戦中、近隣の軍需産業従事者向けの通勤利便性向上のため設けられた経緯があります。 さて、そんな暗い歴史をもつ万世橋駅ですが。今は明るい商業施設となりました。 歴史を感じる赤レンガ造りの高架下部分には個性的なお店が続き、神田川沿いのお洒落なテラス席では食事にカフェに、夜はグッと雰囲気が良くなり落ち着いたディナーも楽しめます。 また、万世橋駅の旧ホームにも上がれるように階段が開放されており、開業当時に造られた1912階段（1912年、明治45年建造）、のちに増設された1935階段（1935年、昭和10年建造）か、エレベーターで上がれます。 階段の一部は震災で焼けたため変色していて、先人の苦難の歴史が垣間見える階段を上りかつてのホームから現在の中央線電車を眺めて見るのも良いかもしれません。 【詳細情報】 マーチエキュート神田万世橋 (mAAch ecute神田万世橋） JR秋葉原、神田駅、御茶ノ水駅どこからでも徒歩圏内ですが、秋葉原駅から万世橋を渡る道がやや近い。 トイレ　あり 館内商業施設はそれぞれ営業時間要確認
