I was flying from Tokyo to San Francisco, with a 2-hour layover in Toronto. I bought alcohol at this store after clearing security in Tokyo. The girl at the counter kept telling me I need to pick up the bottles at Toronto, but proceeded to hand me the bags after I paid. She did not understand English and could not explain why she was giving me the bags if I was to pick them up in Toronto.
Not knowing what else to do I took the bags and boarded the flight. I got off at Toronto and they told me at the transit security screening that the bottles had not been sealed correctly, so I would not be allowed to take them with me any further. This store should have sealed the bottles, which they didn't and I, as a traveler, didn't know they were supposed to. My options were to allow them to confiscate $300 worth of bottles, for no fault of mine, or go all the way out and check the bottles in as checked in baggage and come back in again.
It was a nightmare! With barely 2 hours to my connection, I had to clear immigration and go all the way out, check the bottles in as luggage and come all the way back in again, clearing immigration. I had my fingers desperately crossed that the bottles wouldn't break in transit.
These folks have nice stuff but they do not follow regulations that they should know - about how to seal bottles of alcohol. Their staff don't speak English in an area full of international travelers and are unable to communicate important information.
I emailed this story to them, but have not heard back. Save yourself the nightmare. Buy your stuff elsewhere where they follow the rules and can at least tell you if you need to...
Read moreIt was Nov 15th around 3pm and I was looking for a Chanel foundation refill, the first staff lady with pony tail that I spoke with was very rude. At first I thought it was language barrier so I had asked if she could speak English and she said she could.
However there was still a misunderstanding since she gave me confused looks. I had asked if the item would be in a separate sealed package since that’s what other Chanel stores have done when I purchased at the airport. But instead she said no and merely walked away… very unprofessional & didn’t even help further. It’s an international airport, I’d assume the workers can speak English, but guess not…
Luckily another staff lady helped me out and I was able to purchase the item well through her accommodation.
Staffs at this Chanel store should learn how to properly cater to their customers needs and not just “walk away”, the early staff lady had terrible sales skills and customer service. If not for the other lady, I wouldn’t have bought anything even though I...
Read moreStaff are completely clueless about everything. I asked if they had aged sake. I used the English term and TWO Japanese terms (Koshu and Jukuseishu). Three sales people got involved. None of them knew anything about it. So I asked them to just show me their sake. I IMMEDIATELY saw TWO sakes that said "aged" in English and then I pointed to the Japanese characters that spell "jukusei"...
When I finally went to checkout, the cashier's told me that since I'm connecting through the USA my liquids would be confiscated. I showed them the TSA website that literally says "liquids in a clear, sealed, tamper evident, duty free bag may be carried through TSA checkpoints to connecting flights." The cashiers proceeded to argue with...
