I stumbled upon this spicy ramen restaurant in Shinagawa, and let me tell you, my taste buds have never been the same since. This place takes spiciness to a whole new level, and if you're not careful, you might just end up sweating profusely and regretting your life choices. But fear not, dear diners! The customizable spiciness allows you to dip your toes into the fiery depths of spicy ramen at your own pace. And if you're feeling brave, go ahead and add some Sichuan peppers and dried garlic for a personalized level of mouth-burning goodness. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the ground pork is so juicy that it might just squirt out of your chopsticks if you're not careful. But hey, that's all part of the fun, right? Just make sure to have some tissues and water handy because things are about to get spicy. Overall, I would recommend this spicy ramen restaurant to anyone who wants to add a little excitement to their dining experience. But don't say I didn't warn you! This ramen is not for the faint of heart. So, bring your appetite and a sense of adventure, and get ready to spice things up in Shinagawa.

This restaurant offers several stages of spice in their Tan tan noodles. They make it a bit their own with several "Stages" of house-ground red chili. I feared the Stage 2 and up, so I just stuck with the Stage 1 Black at 900¥. The Black adds house-made "Maayu," which is burnt sesame and garlic oil. This added a different dimension to typical Tantanmen. And what tantanmen it was. You can tell they gave it flavor depth, with a hint of creaminess and savory, salty tastes. While it wasn't the most amazing tantanmen I've had, as unfortunately it was generally overpowered with the spice from the red chili, it was certainly still quite flavorful. Once you finish your noodles, you can opt for the Aburi Cheese Risotto option for 250¥, which turns your soup remainder, along with rice and cheese toppings, all toasted with a torch. This is a fantastic way to polish off your meal. If hell is always this delicious, it may not be that half bad.

I love small restaurants that cook just one thing but do it brilliantly. This is one of those ramen places. They make a basic spicy ramen with minced pork, and you can add other ingredients (quail egg, veg etc) and choose the level of spiciness. I can eat really spicy food but level 3 was just perfect for me at this place (can't believe the Japanese chef eats level 4). Good food, nice staff and perfect lunch.
