He finally our family of four took the tour on a Wednesday afternoon in August. There were only two other groups on the trolley so we all have plenty of room. Trolley itself has a Victorian style to it. The benches are wooden but they're covered with leather seat pads. Windows are open but have roll down waterproof shades for inclement weather. There was no air conditioning that I noticed, but since the windows are open and there was a nice breeze, it felt nice and cool despite the weather being over. 80° f. The tours in August are hop on hop off which is nice. So you can explore the sites in detail. You purchased the tickets either online or in the shop at federation Park. We purchased our tickets online but we still had to go into the shop and have them printed out. I guess you can do that at home too, but we didn't know that. The shop and federation Park has nice souvenirs and we bought a few while we were waiting. There's also a nice seating area outside. There's a paid parking lot a block away with plenty of spaces available when we were there. The trolleys run every half hour. During the summer. We had a driver and a tour guide who told us about the local history during the trip. She was a student at Queen's University and was very knowledgeable about the area. We rode the entire route on the same trolley. We did not get off at a site. It was nice to listen to the same tour guide the entire route. But if you have time, I do recommend getting off at some of the sites because it's really the best way to see the city without having to drive yourself and pay for parking everywhere you go. As I mentioned, the trolleys come every half hour so you'll never have to wait very long for a trolley. I would definitely do it again when I'm in the area. It's a great way to see all of the sights and learn about the...
Read moreWe went on the Christmas Light Tour. I really liked our tour guide/trolley driver. He took us into neighborhoods that you wouldnât know to travel to yourself necessarily.
However, I really think they should discount their tickets after 12/25 or 12/26 though. My impression is that many lights had been taken down by 12/31 during the tour we went on. He threw in an extra neighborhood, but honestly after neighborhood #3, I didnât see anything new or more exciting than the previous ones. I would say each neighborhood averaged 1 exciting light display. The rest werenât all that special or different.
I recommend going before Christmas to see the most exciting lights. I do think it is worth the time and money pre-holiday.
The other part that makes it worth it is the atmosphere. Sure, you could get in your own car and drive around, if you know where youâre going. However, this offers the opportunity to enjoy the show with an audience affect you wonât be able to mimic. The anecdotes from other passengers alone escalates the wow factor and also increases the shared amusement of well meaning light displays gone bad.
Trolley is enclosed, but has both windows and heat. Tour took 1.5 hours 6-7 total neighborhoods/developments Bring a seat pad if wooden seats are too hard for you or sit on your coat. Seats sit 2 ppl each For bigger parties get there 10-15 minutes early to get seats together.
I recommend this company for tours...
Read moreWe attended the Haunted Trolley Ghost Tour and it unfortunately didn't meet expectations. Firstly, the price seemed a bit steep for the tour but we decided to give it a try and see if it was worth it. After securing tickets, we didn't receive any confirmation email or further instructions for where to meet and when, so we just went off the very light information that was provided on the website. Upon arrival (we arrived about 7 mins early) the trolley driver was already halfway through a very long story and we were confused if the tour had already started. We tried to flag him down to ask, but he continued with the speech for 7 minutes until the exact time the tour was supposed to start. We quickly jumped aboard and inquired if this was in fact the tour we signed up for; it was and we had missed the beginning, but were never told to arrive early let alone how early to come, so we were frustrated about that. The tour itself was more historical then ghost-related. The ghost stories that were told were very short, minimal details, and were usually as we were driving quickly past the locations with little time to soak it in. It's definitely geared towards an older crowd that wants a historical tour of the city, and even for that, not...
