BE CAREFUL WITH THIS VERY RUDE AND AGGRESSIVE OLD MAN (Causeway Link Staff) ‼️‼️‼️ I wish to lodge a formal complaint regarding an incident that occurred on 13 August 2025, around 9:30 PM, at the Johor Bahru CIQ at Causeway Link bus section heading to Singapore. My friend and I were queuing in the bus seating zone section. Nearby, there was also the standing zone section, where the door was open and passengers were crowding without queuing in an orderly manner. My friend jokingly closed the door in front of me, preventing me from queuing beside him — it was purely a lighthearted gesture, not a serious matter. Suddenly, a Causeway Link staff member (malay guy) approached and shouted at my friend in an aggressive manner, making a gesture as if he was about to punch him. He then ordered my friend to leave the queue and told him he was not allowed to board the bus. His behaviour was unprofessional and unnecessarily hostile. Seeing this, I followed my friend to ensure he was safe. At that point, the staff member touched and pushed me roughly without any valid reason. I became upset and asked him loudly “Why did you touch and push me?” Immediately after, an older male staff member (photo that I attached) approached me, shouting aggressively and repeatedly ordering me to leave. He even threatened to take me to the police, despite the fact that I had done nothing wrong. Both staff members were extremely rude, aggressive, and unprofessional in their conduct. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable for public transport service staff. I request that Causeway Link take immediate and appropriate action against these individuals to ensure such incidents do not happen again. I have attached a photo of one of the staff members involved for your reference and another one more aggressive staff (Malay man) photo is not here.

The Johor Bahru Checkpoint, linking Malaysia and Singapore, serves as a crucial gateway between the two nations. Its strategic location and significance for cross-border travel make it a focal point for commuters, tourists, and cargo transportation. The checkpoint's infrastructure is designed to handle a substantial volume of vehicles and pedestrians, with efficient customs and immigration processes in place. However, during peak hours, the checkpoint can experience heavy congestion, leading to longer waiting times. The facilities at the checkpoint include duty-free shops, currency exchange services, and dining options, offering convenience for travelers. The cleanliness and maintenance of the premises generally receive positive feedback, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. Security measures are robust, ensuring the safety of individuals and preventing unauthorized activities. The presence of immigration and customs officials adds to the overall sense of security. While the checkpoint plays a vital role in enhancing connectivity between Malaysia and Singapore, occasional challenges related to traffic management and wait times may impact the overall experience for travelers. Nevertheless, continuous efforts to improve infrastructure and streamline processes contribute to the checkpoint's overall effectiveness.

I would give zero stars if it was an option. I've waited at this checkpoint for 4-5 hours before, the Malaysian side does not deploy sufficient manpower during peak hours. You may pass through a virtually empty Singapore Woodlands checkpoint only to arrive at a packed and sweltering JB side. Even though there are 18 counters, service is slow to non-existent. The queue will budge about 30cm per 15 minutes of waiting. Be prepared to inhale the smell of sweaty humans for an extended period if you're unfortunate enough to have to queue. Immigration officers are slow, impolite and badly trained. This is what happens when they have a monopoly and no impetus to do a proper job. Unfortunately I must advise any fellow travellers to ensure they have properly stamped your passport. They have been known to "forget" and allow foreigners to be picked up by their buddies later for a fabricated "offence" so they can be shaken down for cash. Whoever administrates this checkpoint should be investigated and swiftly sacked in disgrace. If you want to be even more angry, you can stand at the other side after coming out of this sardine can hell and observe the painfully slow trickle of travellers leaking through the monstrous pileup on the other side. Good luck.

For tourists travelling between prepared to deal with long waiting hours and military or police officers who may give you a difficult time there.

This happened at the start of the year. I was told that my phone will be confiscated when I was sending a whatsapp bubble to my friend. Fair enough I said I forgot that I’m not suppose to do this and it’s pretty common i’m not the only one doing. I showed the military guy that I deleted the videos and he continued to threaten to seize my phone despite that. And question where I was from then proceed to threaten the third time round even though I have already deleted my video. Took 3 hours to cross the checkpoint instead of deploying people to do this kind of non productive work they could have deployed more people to the clearance or upgrade their system. Lol. They even had a sign to scan the qr code to do the arrival form and a caucasian guy beside me even laugh and said I thought we cannot have cameras how do we even scan the qr code. There were 3 queues to one counter and nobody not even the military personnels step in to usher people to form 1 which created a small chaos where a singaporean family of 5 argued with a china couple and the china uncle shouted super loudly. No officer step in until these people had left then the counter officer proceed to say 1 queue without ushering at all.

I’ve been to South Korea Demilitarised Zone and even in such places military soldiers were mostly cordial doing their work of checking passport reasonably. It’s even okay to take pictures there just not their military area and we experienced no such bs. Malaysia really needs to up their game and focus on...
