Chow Kit Market, nestled in the bustling heart of Kuala Lumpur, stands as one of Asia's most vibrant and captivating markets. Known for its kaleidoscope of colors, rich aromas, and energetic ambiance, it offers an unforgettable sensory experience. As you alight from the monorail at Chow Kit station, a short 100-meter walk leads you directly to the market entrance, where the real adventure begins.

The market is divided into two distinct sections: the fruit and vegetable area and the wet market. The fruit and vegetable section dazzles with an array of fresh produce, showcasing a vibrant spectrum of colors from deep red tomatoes to lush green leafy vegetables. The fragrant aroma of exotic fruits and herbs mingles with the earthy scent of freshly harvested vegetables, creating a feast for the senses.

In contrast, the wet market offers a different but equally engaging experience. Here, you'll find an assortment of fresh seafood, meats, and spices, with vendors bustling about, skillfully displaying their wares. The energy is palpable as locals haggle over prices and select their ingredients.

For those visiting Chow Kit Market, it’s worth exploring beyond just shopping. Try some local delicacies from the food stalls scattered throughout the market. Traditional Malaysian snacks, like satay and nasi lemak, are often available and provide a delicious taste of local cuisine. Additionally, consider taking a moment to observe the market’s dynamic environment and interact with the friendly vendors to gain a deeper appreciation of Kuala Lumpur’s rich...

Real local wet market, dream location for durians and fruits lovers! The price for tropical fruits way cheaper than tourists spots like Jalan Alor or super markets. Divided into 3 main sections, fruits, vegetables and fresh meats and seafoods. Way fresher and many different ones to try. If staying at an apartment one can get and cook freshest vegetables, seafoods abundance and poultry live or cleaned. Fresh drinking young coconuts, milk or shredded coconuts. Cooking utensils or kitchen varieties store.

Warning not for the faint hearted as sight of blood, head or organs in full display. Floors wet with guts and blood smells can be overwhelming if not used to typical Asian wet markets. Our young kids are accostumed to it but others maybe too much. Better stay only in the fruits and vegetables section. Another trap with fruits do your pickings as the sellers will give you bad or worser qaulity like longans or rambutans whiles in front off pile has the good looking ones.

Durians stands and some local eateries situated on the outside, recommend the stall last on the strip. The further you go the cheaper it gets. Bought 2 he gave us 3rd for free. Small bottled water included.

Take cooler bags or portable trolley if planning to purchase large quantities. Can easily over buy because it's all a bargain. Watch out for unique fruits like Chempadak or sour sop as in Western countries are so rare and...

A testament to time gone by, the village of Kampung Baru has maintained its hold on Malay traditions despite the advances of the modern world in the capital city around it. Old-world Kampong Baru owes its rural vibe to the traditional Malay wooden stilt houses here, flanked by coconut palms and banana trees. Chickens and goats wander the narrow lanes, and stalls sell street food like grilled fish and dragon fruit smoothies. A lively weekly night market sells clothes and handicrafts, while nearby Chow Kit Market is known for produce, spices and textiles. Kampung Baru or new village has been populated since the 1880's. In this small corner of downtown Kuala Lumpur, a slice of village life still exists among the growing metropolis of Malaysia's capital. Many of the homes here have frangipani and banana trees and coconut palms in their lots while skyscrapers overlook houses built on stilts. From the KLCC, walk along Jalan Sultan Ismail, cross the bridge and turn right on Jalan Raja Abdullah. By public transport, take the LRT to Kampong Baru station or monorail to Medan Tuanku station. There is a free walking tour from Visit KL which takes you into the heart of the village.
