Being a fan of Malaysian cuisines, I will never miss out on a scrumptious plate of nasi kandar. Having grown up in the north, you can say that I am selective when it comes to this dish especially now that I am in Kuala Lumpur. I discovered this place many years ago and they have amassed a huge following throughout the years. Recalling my first dining experience here, it was certainly not a letdown as I now find myself occasionally visiting this place when I need to scratch that nasi kandar itch. Today I ordered my usual fare of ayam sambal, kambing and telur dadar. The mixed curries or kuah campur is a must have too. Beginning with the curries, it was reminiscent of northern flavors whereby the spices and aromatics are strong with a really appetising tang. The explosive mix of flavors might be a tad overpowering for first timers trying nasi kandar but those who are already hooked on to this local dish will surely enjoy what this place has to offer. The telur dadar is an essential for me because it just soaks up all the kuah and curries making it a savory fluff of curry goodness. The chickens here were also akin to what I had up north where the meat is firmer. The ayam sambal dialed in just the right intensity and once again, the beautiful blend of savory and spices made this a favourite of mine. If spiciness isn't your forte, I would recommend their ayam kicap as that was also a well accomplished dish here. A recommended variation to your choices of proteins would be the kambing but sadly the one I got today was on the chewier side. Nevertheless, it still packed a powerful punch of flavors to compliment your rice. Overall, I certainly approve of the nasi kandar here and would recommend it. Do co sides coming here early as the crowd can be massive...
Read moreEvaluation of nasi kandar joints is highly subjective. There is no universal standard that can be applied, and in most cases, a verdict is formed based on personal biases. Any person ever to have stood patiently in a queue for a plate of nasi kandar will lay claim that he is a nasi kandar connoisieur but nothing could be further from the truth. It is based on this premise that I dare say Nasi Kandar Yaseem is one of the better tasting nasi kandar in KL. This is arguable of course, that much is a given, and I will not hold that against anyone who would disagree with me. This is definitely not a "Fight Me" shout out. To me my nasi kandar, and to you, yours.
Try the Ayam Masak Hitam, and let the expert behind the counter works his magic with the kuah campur. Indulgence can be in the form of a mid-size sotong kari. Go for the prawns if you feel like a million dollars. Get the half-cut salted egg too. Then sit and enjoy the glorious food.
The restaurant is big enough to accomodate big party so there is no worry if you bring your whole family including your neighbours. And there is one section that is air-conditioned. You can also enjoy your nasi kandar by the road side, but I believe they only do this at night.
This is definitely a fare worth...

Not familiar with the ordering process? For ala carte, follow the line, just point to the dishes you want and they will top up on your place. Grab a seat, someone will come over and ask for your drink orders. Eat, enjoy ... Pay when done.
If you are coming with a group, just walk inside and grab a seat. A waiter will come over and ask what you want (it's probably best to take a photo of what you want before you walk in). Eat, enjoy and pay.
They have air-conditioned seating inside.
