Went there as it was being promoted and glorified by content creators and influencers. It is definitely not as glorious as it seemed.
There were animals on sale (Dogs, cats, small animals, fishes), as expected of a pet store, but the living conditions are not the standard of a proper pet store.
There were hamsters and bunnies in metal cages, and the cages were dirty and rusty! The bunnies looked so uncomfortable and sad in the small, dirty cages and the hamsters cages seemed to be full of their poop, very unhygienic.
There was a cat that was very stressed out and was pacing back and forth, meowing frequently if anyone went near it. It did not stop pacing around even after 30- 40mins (The whole time I was in the store till I left). The cat living area WHICH looked like a box with glass door is very cramped, not enough for cats to stretch and roam around.
An overcrowded gerbil enclosure which house 10+ GERBILS(The ceiling is high for them, but the roaming area is small). The WORSE PART is that there were only 1 small food bowl for all of them to share together, NO WATER and NO RUNNING WHEEL. How is this even acceptable? As a gerbil owner myself, my gerbils living area is much bigger and equipped with all the necessary items. As a pet store yourself, you have all the necessary items but failed to provide your animals with it?
The dogs/ puppies all stayed in similar small box glass door type of cage. They are mostly puppies and small breeds, no large dog and it is clear why: there are literally NO SPACE FOR THEM TO ROAM AROUND, only a peepad for them. All of the dogs/puppies where just sleeping and not active due to the SMALL AREA. One of the puppies took a dump and even after 30 mins, it was still uncleaned even though there were staff walking around.
The fishes were being taken care of aquarium by aquarium when I was there, meanwhile the dogs, cats, and small animals do not have anybody there to supervise them and attend to their needs.
For a pet store, this is a very unethical practise for the animals. All the animals looked really depressed and not treated right.
I found this to be a very heartbreaking and cruel sight. Unacceptable.
To those who plans to visit there, PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THE BUSINESS BY PURCHASING ANIMALS OR GOING TO THEIR PETTING ZOO. CHOOSE TO ADOPT OR FOSTER INSTEAD.
I have looked through the reviews and even though the replies for months and months was that they will “improve”, I went there on the last week of Dec 2024 and I did not see any improvement from what have been said in the reviews.
Those animals deserve so...
Read moreMany have already criticised the lack of animal welfare and unmet basic needs of the animals that are being sold in this store. The reply from management each time promising to do better and improve just seems to be their standard, automated reply as the condition of the animals have not changed many months later.
You seem to pride yourselves in stocking all kinds of different species of animals. But seemingly without the proper knowledge and equipment to care for them.
I’ve seen the same BSH cat still sickly with the flu, placed all the way at the back of the store. Right beside the sick cat is the poor Cornish Rex that has been pacing in his cage for many months. The strong smell of urine emanates from the cages in this area despite the cages being enclosed and without any ventilation holes. I can’t even imagine the stench the cats are experiencing stuck in their own cages without any proper ventilation. Degus are seen running in wheels that are meant for dwarf hamsters. The Syrian hamsters struggle to even climb on their running wheel as it is too tall for them to reach. One of the Syrian hamsters had a wound on its back, possibly from fighting as they house 4 Syrian hamster together, when they are supposed to be SOLITARY animals.
The very last straw for me was the reply from one of your staff when I told him there was no water in the Syrian hamster enclosure. (Thinking that it could just be an oversight, as all the other enclosures had water.) But your staff confidently replied that Syrian hamsters do not need water as they get enough water from cucumbers. I was utterly dumfounded with his answer and just the sheer confidence in his reply. Mind you, there was not one piece of cucumber in that enclosure.
I choose to voice out as my conversation with your staff leads me to believe that the poor animal welfare is a deeply rooted issue that stems from ignorance and lack of knowledge from their very own caretakers. This is a clear reflection of the priorities of this company as their animals wellbeing doesn’t seem to be...
Read moreOkay, hear me out. I'm going to start with the GOOD things first, and then my personal opinions (which are kinda negative) on the whole thing.
My mother and I paid to go into the Justfarm portion, which is the petting zoo. The animals there were super cute, and the staff was really friendly! (We don't talk about how a greedy little pygmy goat headbutted me in the lower leg because it wanted more carrots and attention, which was funny) As you may already know; yes, this is an indoor petting zoo, so you get to enjoy free air-conditioning while interacting with the animals. Also, the air is really clean. The place has a few big air purifiers around, and it helps to reduce the smell from the animals. There is a bad smell coming from the duck and Swan enclosure, but it's not too strong and pungent :D
Do take note that there are some animals which you cannot pet and/or feed. E.g. I was inquiring a staff member whether we could go in and feed the prairie dogs in the glass enclosure, but she told us that they would bite.
Here's a couple of things that kind of irked me: The pricing. RM68 and RM58 separately for an adult ticket and child ticket to enter the petting zoo. I don't know, but that sounds like a bit too expensive? But a factor could be the location of the petting zoo. After all, it's in a mall. (BTW, if you want to enter the cat cafe, you need to pay a different fee, but at least it's cheaper.) You'll have to pay RM5 extra for each bucket of food for the petting zoo, which I think is kind if outrageous in my opinion. Most importantly, THE SPACE WHERE THE ANIMALS ARE KEPT. I can understand that the space is limited in the mall/in the farm, and that the space foe the guineas, rabbits, and other smaller animals, it's sufficient for them, but they have 3 ALPACAS, 3 CAPYBARAS AND 3 VALAIS BLACKNOSE SHEEP IN A SMALL CORNER. I don't think it's actually sufficient for them to even STAY THERE (if they do stay...
