Review of Legumes Catering

I recently decided to approach Legumes Catering for my daughter's 3rd birthday party using their event space Fun Fun Event Space, which had a total of 54 guests: 41 adults and 13 kids (7 older kids ranging from 4-14 years old, and 6 toddlers ranging from 1-3 years old). I had ordered food for 43 pax, expecting that, as is typical with caterers, there would be an extra portion provided. My understanding was that caterers usually provide approximately 5% more than the estimated number of guests.

However, I was informed by Legumes' person-in-charge (PIC) that their food portioning strictly adheres to their system calculations, which follow ISO 22000 standards. This standard, from my understanding, is more about food safety than portioning sizes. Had this information been communicated earlier, I would have opted to order for a few more guests to ensure there was enough food.

On the day of the event, my guests reported that some dishes ran out, and when I queried the server, he confirmed there were no refills available, not even hot water. It struck me that if this event had been for a high-profile company, Legumes would have ensured there was ample food, including basic necessities like hot water.

Furthermore, upon arriving at the event space, I found only 6 tables set up instead of the 8 I had requested. I had also asked for 3 or 4 baby chairs, but none were prepared. I had to request the server to get the baby chairs as guests began arriving with their families. Additionally, I had paid for 2 servers but only 1 server was present. This resulted in slow refills of food, drinks, and utensils, and I had to repeatedly instruct the lone server to attend to these tasks. Fortunately, the PIC refunded the charge for the absent server, but the lack of adequate staffing led to inefficiencies.

I chose Legumes Catering because of their reputable track record of catering for big companies, which made the shortcomings even more surprising. Additionally, I had opted for their exclusive buffet menu, which comes at a higher price point.

Lastly, it is important to note that if you plan to use Spotify or a USB pendrive for music at Fun Fun Event space, you will need to bring your own laptop to connect to their AV system.

Overall, while the quality of the food provided by Legumes Catering was commendable, the service and portioning left much to be desired. Proper communication and preparation are key areas that Legumes Catering needs to...

The food did not live up to my expectations, I expected great food because people said the food at the Christmas gathering last year was really good, but that was not the case today. The curry chicken was dry and heavily lacked flavour, the texture of the sweet and sour fish was horrible because maybe there was too much flour but less fish, and because it was so soggy.
