Ground Eatery — Restaurant in Subang Jaya

A disappointing valentines experience. On arrival we were impressed by the ambience and environment. The team had gone the extra mile in decorating the room and the tables. There were some really nice details like candles and name tags on tables The set menu looked enticing and we were looking forward to being well fed and looked after.

After sitting at our table for about thirty minutes our appetiser arrived. It was well presented and the individual flavours good, however we felt they didn’t all belong on the same plate.

After another thankfully shorter wait we were served the starter. This had been well seasoned and the flavours were good.

Problems became more apparent with the main course. We had ordered one chicken and one fish dish. The chicken arrived first and we started that so it didn’t get cold... except it was already cold. The mashed potato was room temperature and the chicken mildly tepid.. though flavours good. In the meantime the salmon was served. Much warmer and good flavour. I complained the chicken dish was cold and then sat there for over 10 minutes waiting for a senior team member to assess this. Finally they offered to replace. Another 10-15 minutes later the chicken was re-served.. It was the same plate of food heated in the oven but with extra sauce to cover where the chicken had been started. I had lost my appetite by then and didn’t eat.

We sat there with our plates in front of us for another 15 mins waiting before they offered to send out dessert. Another 20 minutes after our desserts were served to the next table who had barely finished their main course but had complained about the speed of service.

We requested the bill without having our dessert, and having sat there in total for nearly 2.5 hours with complaints we were charged the full amount (300 MYR for the set menu and 3 glasses of wine). There was no apology, and when we asked to speak to the person in charge they did not come up to us. We ended up leaving...

Value for Money : While the quality and service were exceptional, it's worth noting that Ground Eatery's catering service falls on the higher end of the price spectrum. However, the value you receive in terms of food quality, presentation, and professionalism justifies the cost.

food 👍 hainanese chicken chop: definitely worth the price! everything was perfect! wedges was perfectly cooked, chicken chop is perfectly fried and the sauce is quite nice too. its often that the sauce for hainanese chicken chop have very stong ketchup taste, but this seems to be more refreshing and tasteful.

bacon pesto pasta: basil lovers! a must try! strong basil fragrant with cheese. they did not use cream but somehow the sauce seems to be a tiny bit creamy, not too sure how they did that. love it! the bacon taste was a bit bland though.

hakka pork belly: was not expecting such big portion, its much more than what its displayed in their menu, how is that even possible!?!? 😂 its only RM20! definitely cheaper than the 叉烧烧肉 in hawkers! taste quite good too! taste good with the pesto sauce too 😛

was looking forward for the old menu, but still decided to try it out with their new menu. was told by the staff that we can order food from the old menu if we reserve and order a few days in advance so the kitchen can prepare it for us. they are so sweet, its not common to see such thoughtful restaurant nowadays. they really try their best to statisfy their customer. good job! ❤️
