Great atmosphere! I visited this jazz club a few nights ago and highly recommend it. We arrived around 8:15 and managed to get seats, but if you want a table near the stage, come earlier. The venue has an incredible ambiance—pictures and videos don’t do it justice.

The staff added to the experience: the curly-haired doorman had great energy, and the long-haired bartender was kind, quick and made excellent cocktails. The Fours played a mix of originals, and while each musician was skilled, the performance didn’t fully command the room. That said, one of the members did a body percussion piece—unusual but bold. It was my first time seeing something like that, and I really admired the creativity. The final song of the first set also stood out, though overall, the music felt more like a backdrop for socializing than a fully immersive jazz experience.

Still, it’s a fantastic spot to enjoy drinks and soak in the vibe. Would...

WATCH YOUR BACK WITH THE BASS GUY IN THE PICTURES. It would have been a great night out if it weren't for the band's bass player. During the break, when grabbing a drink from the bar, he molested my mother-in-law. Not once, twice, he touched her rear and still said something she didn't understand. While playing after the break, he went to play near her, just as if he could do anything he liked. Disgusting attitude that provoked a reaction in my husband directly to him. I also went to the bar to speak with the employees, and the answer was "yeah yeah" and an awkward face. By his attitude, I am sure this is not the first time this guy has such a behaviour. The bar management should really check on who is brought on stage and condemn any type of harassment. Unfortunately this wasn't the case, as we passed by the bar 5 minutes after the event and the band kept playing as if nothing happened. Never coming back...

Jazz Café Alto in Amsterdam is a fantastic little venue which we visited twice during our long weekend in the city.

A small fronted and quite unassuming place from the outside (despite the massive saxophone mounted on the wall that is..!!) but once inside its packed with charm and atmosphere with a superb team and likeminded customer base.

During our two visits we enjoyed performances from the resident musicians and singers as well as an open mike night where several artists got on stage and entertained the crowds. Some fantastic talent adorns the stage at this venue.

This place is very popular and rightly so… we loved everything about it so if you find yourself in Amsterdam and you enjoy live music and anything else performing arts based…. This is a gem not to be missed.

Relaxed, charming and great value…. What more could you want for...

The only real jazz club in Amsterdam. If you like jazz, this is the place for you. There is live music here every day and the bands are mostly excellent - only one night I got bored with the band. But best of all, there's no stiff sitting and silent listening to the music. You sit at the table, enjoy your drink and listen to the band in a relaxed manner and perhaps have a quiet conversation with your neighbor. Here you can really meet people, there is always something to talk about. Sometimes the bands create a great atmosphere and people even dance. Also the staff is really great and you always feel welcome - nothing to complain about in this club. But since the club is quite small, it gets very crowded at times. However, you should stay, because a few people always leave between the sets and free up seats at the tables.
