One Tree Hill is a favourite place to go to enjoy the peacefulness within central Auckland amongst grassland, trees and sheep. This old volcanic crater was once an ancient Maori Pā (village) site. The outlines of terraces and kumara storage pits are still visible. At the top where the One Tree Hill monument is, you get a 360 degree view of all the Auckland region and both sides of the North Island- on the west side is the Manukau Harbour, and on the eastern side is the Waitemata Harbour. Play ground area for kids is huge. Easy to spend a whole day here for a picnic or a party.
You can see lot of sheep, cattle and feel like the real rural NZ.
The walk way or the drive are so beautiful covered in lush green trees. I would definitely recommended this to any nature lover.

On New Year Day 2024 and 5/1/2024, my husband and I went to the summit of One Tree Hill. We enjoyed the stunning views there and took many photos.
Apparently, there’s no more tree on top of the hill but two short trees are locked with the steel cage.
