Sunset Point — Attraction in South Island

Clean well kept and looked after point, interesting to read about the shipwreck history, tranquil and time passes with the oceans sounds and foraging and creations made on the beach, never leave your children to play alone in water as there are strong currents, I noticed myself & never turn your back on the ocean. Beautiful town, recommend you take your time and enjoy Hokitika. Toliets and heaps of parking, picnic tables. Okay for wheel chairs, prams. Well...

Windy but relaxing scenic attraction, personally think this is way better than the famous Hokitika Beach Sign. Here you can enjoy the undisrupted view of Hokitika River, the beach and the ocean, more importantly, the crowd here is way lesser. There's a shipwrecks memorial, also makes it a great photography location.

Lots of parking available, wheelchair accessible toilets...

Always nice to catch the sunset from Sunset Point. It's a great view across the river to the setting sun. Brilliant views down the beach and river too. The shipwreck replica nearby is kinda cool too and you sit there at the tables and chairs. The area is a bit drab with gravel roads and a pretty average finish but you overlook all that and take...
