I ordered the venison meal at $41.00. It looked fine when it arrived. The venison was supposed to be medallions which is the normal way of preparing and presenting this type of meat. The venison I received was a thick small piece of meat cut into four pieces. I have eaten venison many times but I have never had such a bad piece like this before that was so tuff. The person preparing this meal would have known how bad it was as they would have found it tough to cut into the four pieces. It was supposed to have a wine sauce, again the normal accompaniment with this type of meat. There was no taste of wine only a standard gravy flavour. The mashed potato was slightly warm around the edge getting colder as you moved to the centre, other members of our group that had mashed potato experienced the same. We figured that the potato was from the fridge and microwaved.
In fairness, the server offered to take it away. The problem with that was we had time constraints and I would also end up eating alone as everyone else at the table would have finished their meals. I also don't trust what kitchen staff could inappropriately do to your new replacement meal, call me paranoid.
There was a range of meal issues experienced by others in our group but that is for them to relay.
Overall, a very sad and expensive experience.
Cleary we won't...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at Lone Star Auckland, despite being a regular at the Lone Star Nelson branch. We pre-booked a table for 12 at 6pm and, after arriving early for a drink, we were seated on time. However, service was abysmal. We pressed the call button on our table as instructed to order our mains multiple times over a 20-minute period with no response. I eventually went to the bar, where the staff assured us they’d be with us shortly. Instead, it took 45 minutes for the food to arrive, but two meals, including a child's, were missing. These meals only arrived after everyone else had finished eating, with no updates on the delay despite asking twice.
My sons pineapple juice has a fruit fly floating in the top (but not one to complain normally) he just didn't drink it. Additionally, my cup of tea arrived over an hour later, and the server forgot to bring a cup, rushing off before I could ask for one. Although the food was good when it finally arrived, the overall experience was marred by poor service. We ended up leaving just past 8pm without the pudding that was supposed to come with the kids' meal, as my 5-year-old needed to go to bed and we had already been there over 2 hours. Given this experience, I’d recommend giving this Auckland branch a miss, despite my positive experiences at the Lone Star...
Read moreThe lady that took us to our table and took our order was amazing! She made our overall exsprience great! It was my birthday dinner. The steak was a little chewy but tasty all the same. The meals came out by ai robbot singing happy birthday which delivered our meals. Had flashing lights and music. So cute! The salad was interesting but tasty. My daughter age 14 thought she had abit too much salad but the chicken filled her up anyway. She left her almost half a plate of salad. I personally think she would of enjoyed the salad had she tried it. The end we were approached by a guy that asked in an interrogation tone So what are you doing!? Haha we all looked at each other like excuse me? I'm sure he didn't mean it to come off so rude but it was taken that way. We said we are just resting as we were so full. We said were too full for desert. The kind lady returned and said the desert was complimentary as well as the birthday discount so offered us takeaway for desert. Our exsprience was good. We laughed about our interrogation waiter. Maybe it was his straight face (no fascial expression) I'm sure he didn't intend to be that way.
Thank you so much for everything! The drinks were nice also. I had coffee and kids had some fizzy.
Table setting was perfect and comfortable. Lighting was good.
Meals came pretty fast. Yummy...
