We went to Don Mclean's concert last night, 9/5/23. I bought the ticket in late March. At that time, the booking online showed/appeared that the tickets have all been sold out. I did not immediately buy the tickets, and when I was ready to buy the tickets, I saw 2 vacant seats, one at circle C with assigned seat at P7 and at Balcony with assigned seat at row D. I was not able to grab these tickets online, because the system did not allow me to. So, I rang ticketmaster in order that I could buy these. I had repeatedly asked if there were no more seats that were available, and the ticketmaster Customer Service Representative (CSR) had assured me that there were none. But last night, when the concert finally came, it appeared that there were a lot of vacant seats. And I even came to ask this Customer Service Representative (CSR) or staff at the townhall if my husband and I could seat together, however, the CSR has told that it's not possible to swap seats because it would disrupt the reserved seating arrangement and other lame excuse. How could it possibly disrupt the reserved seating arrangement when it's only a matter of re-arranging it, as there were empty seats? Even my seatmate had asked me why I was not seated together with my husband. It then begged me to ask, whose fault was it? Ticketmaster or Auckland Townhall staff for the vacant seats??? Not a good friendly customer solution focused...
Read moreI first saw the Town Hall when I arrived in Auckland, and later I had the chance to see it more closely during my time in the city.
The building already stands out from the outside, with its classic architecture that contrasts with all the modern things around it. But the most beautiful part is definitely inside.
The main hall, used for concerts, is a stunning space. It looks like something from a movie, and it has a huge, historic organ that is still preserved. It’s one of those instruments that impress you just by looking at it.
I loved that many original details are still there: the tiles, the stained glass windows, the stair railings, the wooden floors — all well preserved and in good condition. You can tell they really care about the history of the place.
It’s a building with a strong presence in the city, a local landmark and the site of historic events, like the visit of The Beatles in 1964 and even The Rolling Stones in 1965. It’s worth going in if you’re in the city center, even just for a short visit. It’s not always open to the public, but there are often events and concerts. I recommend it. It’s a piece of...
Read moreWe were walking past and the doors on Queen St were wide open. Auckland Philharmonia were hosting an event. We were able to get last minute tickets and had just a remarkable experience. The Town Hall is a beautiful venue of the Old School. The seats had lots of room and even the Balcony had lots of room and a great view. It's definitely worth a visit, but id the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra is playing I would rate it as an absolute must. The Orchestra was just excellent. They played a wide variety of pieces last night, from Elton John to Wagner. All played to perfection. We'll definitely be back and will tell all...
