I've stayed here fairly frequently for business. It's steadily improved over the years, with minor maintenance and cleaning improvements. Most of the rooms are clean and tidy. I feel like the carpets have been steadily replaced. The location is OK, being only 15 minutes walk from Countdown. It's a good option if you want to prepare your own meals. They have free breakfast, which you can take downstairs in the restaurant, but they also leave a couple of boxes of variety pack cereal in the room, and a couple of slices of bread in a bag in the fridge, with spreads, juice and milk. Also there's a coffee plunger and coffee.
The single bedroom size is good, quite large. Most of them have separate working desk and dining table. The back facing rooms are a tad quieter than the front facing. Typically a fully stocked kitchen, although the studio kitchen is as small as it could possibly be, and does not have a dishwasher. I have left a sink full of dirty dishes in the morning and it's all been washed by the time I get back, so I don't know if this is part of the service but it's appreciated!
Sometimes they forget to restock the breakfast, or empty the bins, but yanno, keep calm.
I've never been in the restaurant. I think they might do espresso coffee there.
Staff are quite friendly and accommodating.
It's probably the better of all the CBD Quests. Quest Queen is better located but the rooms are quite small and there can be maintenance issues. Quest Hobson is...well less said the better.

Read moreI had high expections of our short stay in this apartment as everyone I had spoken to while making bookings etc had been lovely, perhaps they were the nice staff other reviews mention… First of all the cleanliness of this place is very questionable, the mark on one of our doors was perhaps chocolate or blood…we weren’t game to find out. The vents in the bathrooms were covered in dust and grime and as for the range hood in the kitchen and the lounge couch with undetermined stains…We had booked for five people but only had four sets of dinnerware and cutlery and four towels but thank goodness they had managed to set up a roll away bed! This hotel has a private residence on the top floor who are allowed to do whatever they please which includes letting off fireworks late at night… which leads me to our next incident….THE FIRE ALARM GOING OFF AT 2.30am…..THE DUTY MANAGER THEN SWITCHING IF OFF AND TELLING PEOPLE ITS OKAY JUST GO BACK TO BED!!! This certainly doesn’t make for a great sleep on the 16th floor of a hotel when you have no real official certainty that it’s safe for you and your family to do so. Apparently it was okay just to say “Go back to bed” as it was only someone burning dinner/toast or smoking in their room…depended who was asked the next morning!! I could go on about the carpark area being ridiculous or the whole place being outdated but I’ll end here saying DO NOT...
Read moreIn August this year, I returned to Auckland and chose a hotel near the city center, UOA, and Grafton Bridge. My basic needs were a kitchen, washer and dryer, stable hot water, free WiFi, and cleaning service, so I picked Quest Auckland Serviced Apartments (363 Queen Street, Auckland Central).
Experience summary: Initially stayed on the 14th floor where water pressure was low, making showering difficult; also, there was no dining table or chairs, which was inconvenient. Later moved to the 8th floor, fixing the water pressure and dining table issues, but the kitchen was small, so I had to carry dishes to the dining table to cook.
Facilities and service: Free WiFi with decent speed. Daily cleaning (except Sundays) by very friendly staff who promptly provided any missing items when requested—really commendable.
Environment and location: The balcony has a wide open view facing a lush green park, offering a refreshing natural atmosphere. Location is excellent—just left from the lobby is Queen Street with easy access to Woolworths and New World Metro supermarkets for shopping. About a 15-minute walk to UOA and Grafton Bridge, perfectly fitting...
